About

XenThung introduces a brand new gamemode to Half-Life: Alyx. Prepare for smashing waves of zombies, petting headcrabs to death and kick some combine asses!

In between fights manage your economy, collect money from the dead fools and buy yourself ammo, health and more at the four vending machines placed on the map. Brace yourself for the next wave, your highscore migh end right there!

Installation

In order to install this mod you will need less than 5 minutes if you follow these 3 easy steps:

1. Download the mod files here: https://github.com/Manello/hla_mod_XenThug/releases/download/warehouse043/XenThug-Warehouse-V1.3.zip

2. Open the archive you just downloaded. Now go to your Half-Life:Alyx folder and paste the contents of the archive into the "Half-Life: Alyx/game/hlvr/" folder.

Example path to your HLA: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life Alyx\game\hlvr


3. -Go into your steam library, right click Half-Life: Alyx and select properties.
- Select "Set launch options" and put in "+map warehouse" (without quotes!)


This is it! Start your HLA and have fun!

F.A.Q.

I want to use smooth turn, is that possible in this mod?
Yes it is! The game sometimes just doesn't use your normal user settings, so you might have to go into your settings again and change it to the desired mode.

Does the difficulty in my game settings affect this mod?
Nope.

Where can I find my current score?
You can see your current score on one of the monitors in the office room.

Are there spoilers in the mod about the story of HLA?
In theory there is nothing you can get spoiled about in this mod, but if you wanna be sure finish your campaign first!

I installed the mod exactly like you described, but once I start the game I just end up in the main menu!
Well check again that you did everything corretly, step by step. If you are using other mods as well they might break mine, depending on what they do.

Can this mod be played in No-VR Mode / with one of the No-VR Mods?
In theory yes, but in this version, nope.

I am not able to find the shotgun!
You won't get it without the yellow key.

Where the heck is the SMG?
Look up high!

Am I able to exchange the health vial?
Nope sorry, not at the moment.

Will you implement upgradeable weapons?
I will, but I am not sure if this will happen before the official tools release.

Is there an end to this gamemode?
No there isn't. Once you fought against all available waves you will receive the very first wave again, but this time doubling it's life. So go in there and hunt down the high score!

when i played this i didn't find any weapons, but i did use a crowbar to kill the enemies, and oh my god when i heard the combine chatter i literally shat myself. Somehow I beat the combine, but them the antlions came and ruined my day.

im trying to make a map but all my enemies that i put down stand still but attack me when im too close, except for headcrabs which constantly bounce around but never hurt me do you know how to fix this?

Well the mode is supposed to give you a certain pressure ;) Otherwise you can just leave one enemy alive at the end of a round to collect everything and buy stuff.

There is one thing (there is always one, right? :D)
I kinda struggle with the respawn times. I have a hard time collecting all Resin and restock my ammo before getting attacked again... Is there a possibiltiy to add a button to manually start a wave? Or a countdown to next wave?

Yeah, I'm giving that a go now. Just odd is all, I'm sure it is something I messed up, I just... can't figure out what!

Yup seems fine, I had Steam doing random reinstallations with other games before, it even did it once to my HLA BEFORE I started modding.
This problem is out of my range, but one thing you can try: make a backup copy of your HLA folder, delete the original one in Steam, move the backup back to the original place and restart your pc. "Might work", other than that I don't know how to fix it other than let it do its reinstall.
