Description

This mod removes non-realistic particle effects from the game. It does this by editing the VFX files themselves, so it changes no stats and is fully compatible with all overhauls and reskins.

This mod is based on Hooveric's Reskin Effects Remover 1.2. It includes most of Hooveric's changes, but takes the concept a bit farther.

All burning particle effects are gone from weapons. This includes Tyrion, Archaon, Fireborn Dragon Princes, and Grail Knights. Note that this mod removes particle effects, but not glow effects, which are different. You will notice from the screenshots that Archaon's sword glows, but does not have flames attached to it.

All magical buffs and debuffs have had all their particle effects removed. Magical effects are now only for spells with a genuine physical component: for example Burning Head will still show a visible burning head, but Cascading Fire Cloak will not show any visual buff effects on the unit.

All light beams have been removed from characters. In addition, Alarielle and Alith Anar have had their persistent character auras reduced a little. Alarielle still has persistent butterflies and flowers, but no glow. Alith has his persistent cloud of smoke, but no glow.

Most importantly, this mod cleans up and reduces the particle effects shown when targeting. Instead of a huge 3D targeting area, the targeting particles will now hug the ground in a subtle way, as shown in the screenshots. You will be able to see where your spell is going, but it won't ruin your screenshots.

This mod does not change projectile trails or impacts, and it does not change blood effects.

There were a few effects that I wanted to remove but wasn't able to, since I haven't been able to find which files they come from. This is a work in progress.

This mod is a movie format pack, so it will continue working even if you disable it in the launcher. To remove this, you will need to unsubscribe.

The screenshots are made with my other graphical mods active, but they are not included here.

I edited the mod in RPFM to my liking, rather than ask you to do it for me, but there's a few effects I'm not sure about. I can see that they're related to magic, but I'm not sure how exactly. Could you point me to a guide/resource on the effects changed in this mod?

If a guide for all the effects is a hassle, then I'm mainly looking for these specific ones:
wh/wh2_main_lib_aura
These seem to control the swirls around the character when casting, but the name sounds like a main file that would affect much more than that?

wh_main_death/fire/heavens/light/metal/vampires_character_aura
wh2_main_entity_magic_aura_cool/warm
I have no clue what these do, the first don't seem to affect anything when casting, and I'm curious why beasts and waaagh magic aren't there. No clue at all what the cool/warm ones are.

Any advice would be appreciated, thank you!

Does this mod need an update for the latest DLC?
