It used to be possible to build on gravel. Now it is again.

Any chance of an update for 1.3 and 1.4?

Has anyone tried using this in 1.3 or 1.4?

Any chance for an option to switch rough gravel and stony soil textures? Because right now stony soil looks like a vast barren terrain and the rough gravel texture really looks like just some stony soil. BTW, great patch, thanks!

In Fertile Fields, harvesting dirt & sand leaves behind 'Rough Gravel'. If all you're after is the dirt for filling mud/marsh/etc., stripping the gravel is a lot of extra work. IRL, gravel is often used as the substrate material under heavy foundations, so it made no sense to me I could not build some things on it.

I'm confused, if you scavenge the gravel for "components" wouldn't that mean the terrain is no longer gravel and therefore safe for building?

By default, gravel currently has a 'Terrain Affordance' of 'Medium,' which mostly means you can't build walls on top of it. My patch changes it to 'Heavy' so you can build anything on top of Rough Gravel. The main purpose is to strip the useful dirt, sand, etc. from areas that will be under buildings. Why waste it?
