Viscount of the West Kingdom | SCRIPTED

Description

Quick Overview

Viscounts of the West Kingdom is set at a time when the King’s reign began to decline, circa 980 AD. Choosing peace over prosperity, our once strong King began offering our enemies gold and land to lay down their axes. But peace is a tenuous affair. As poverty spread, many people lost faith in his ability to lead and sought independence from the crown. Since finding favour in his courts, our future has also become uncertain. As viscounts, we must be wise and decisive. Loyalty is to be upheld, but gaining favour among the people must be our priority, should there be a sudden shift in power.

Aim of the Game

The aim of Viscounts of the West Kingdom is to be the player with the most victory points (VP) at game's end. Points are gained by constructing buildings, writing manuscripts, working in the castle and acquiring deeds for new land. Players begin with a handful of townsfolk, but should quickly seek out more suitable talents to advance their endeavours. Each turn they will be travelling around the kingdom, looking to increase their influence among the various areas of society. The game ends once the Kingdom reaches poverty or prosperity - or potentially both!

Key Features:

Unique gameplay experience, blending deck-building, tableau-building and rondel movement, with a lot of interesting and tough decisions to make each turn

10 unique Hero characters, more than 60 unique Townsfolk Cards and a modular board, creates a huge amount of depth and replayability

Multiple paths to victory, due to the 4 unique primary actions, virtue/corruption system and deck-building flexibility

Positive player interaction, with a lot of off-turn benefits to keep players engaged

Intuitive and easy to use solo play mode, with 4 unique AIs to compete against

Over 200 cards, 200 wooden tokens and a 3D castle!

I will get in touch with them again to see if they want any of the expansions into the game and let you know :)

Hey Deedy! Any chance we can get the tomesaga content into this mod?

Hey H2G

It should be shuffling and dealing a correct and random amounts to each location, I'll look into it. The Ink well's have been adjusted to a lighter colour as quite a few players mentioned they blended into the table and were too dark.

Hi Deedy,
Just wanted to let you know that starting manuscripts during setup mod, has not been shuffled and always stay same every game setup. Is this intentional?

Also that ink well tokens look very light blueish instead of black :winter2019joyfultearsdog:

Yeah I've increased the ambient lighting in the room so the shadow is less now. One of the things we've learnt after doing these for some time is that these asset bundles for the room have been casting shadows, which we now turn off for all future projects.

If anyone wants to smooth the shadow effect just decrease Light Intensity and increase Ambient Intensity in Options>Lightning.

I've made a lot of QOL changes to the mod and we're going to rewrite the scripts but exclude the camera snapping to the cards as we're not a fan of cameras forcing perspectives on players. We can't remove the table and room as that's part of the mod.

Regarding, physics and shadows I don't know anyone or myself who's had any issues with them during multiple games of play with the mod, that might be on your end.

With the flat colours, I've adjusted the lighting so it pops more now.

I haven't used anything from your mod, so I can't add a credit but instead thank you very much for pointing all this stuff out. It was very insightful to go back and look back at this and improve upon it based on your recommendations.

Hey Damocles, thank you very much for taking your time to improve the current version and I appreciate it even more that you've sent me an unlisted link. I'll check it out :)
