1996 Fleetwood Southwind Storm Mobile Lab

Heres something nice and big!

This is a Fleetwood Southwind Storm. It is a large RV and this one has been heavily modified.

This one has a Ford 460 ci V8 and a 4 speed automatic. Its slow and gutless and doesnt go up any hill just like the real thing.

I tried to get every detail I could onto it, and I think i did a good job.

Its got the trailer with the lab, a single slide, 4 bunkbeds, a dinette+kitchenette and a drivers area.

It has a bullbar to push stuff out of the way.

They made three of these for the movie. 2 were running driving and one was just a rolling one (for the cliff scene, it was destroyed). One of them is in a Universal Studios Backlot Tour and the other sat from 2005-2014 in the middle of a field till some guys picked it up and restored it. It was owned by Franck Galiegue and now I dont know who owns it.

The real ones made for the movie were only about 25% Southwind: The front cap was a Storm, the frame was a Ford F53 taken from a Fleetwood Bounder, the trailer was the back half of a Southwind Storm, and the middle of the forward RV was custom.

The one in Universal and the one that was sold both still drive, however the Universal one has sat in a scene forever and would need serious work and both of them only had the Ford 460 gas V8 which barely pulled itself out of the way.
