New Settlement, Who Dis?

Description
Ever wonder why the Dwarfs would reconquista Black Crag and just leave it with that infidelious name? Or why the Greenskins would occupy old Dwarfen holds and, out of respect for their blue brethren, continue to call them "Karaks"? Well, wonder no more!

This mod uses some brand-new CA commands that allow the scripted renaming of settlements, so when a settlement is conquered by another faction, the internal script checks if there's a unique name for that settlement/race or settlement/faction combo, and applies the new name if one is found. This enables, for instance, Karak Ungor to be renamed as Red Eye Mountain if it's occupied by the Greenskins.

Right now, the list of names isn't incredibly long, but we figured we should release it and include a way to request new name changes, rather than the two of us coming up with name changes entirely on our own and releasing a fully finished product.

LIST OF CURRENT CHANGES: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/14jbjcztXTm6k6dB1QE4FFpRNEz_OQh_u_PRqLWlVowo

Configuration

This mod has integrated some changes available within, that can be configured through the Mod Configuration Tool. Subscribe to that mod, load both of them up, and you can enable or disable settlement renames based on four categories:
- Loreful: Very accurate, to the best of our ability
- Iffy: Somewhat accurate, but debatable
- Translations: A translation of a settlement name to the occupant's language
- Goofy: Just silly names, hah

By default, only Loreful and Iffy names are enabled.

Submodding & Requests

In order to make a request for a new name change, use our form at https://forms.gle/KmUDXbek5MqtUqV46

Please read the list of changes above to see if your idea is already in!

If you have special ideas about it - for instance, renaming a settlement after a faction leader, or only having it apply for a specific faction - please let us know further details in the Notes section!

However, we probably won't be making all of the requests! And there can also be some stuff in other mods that we wouldn't necessarily want to bake in. So, we've made making submods/compatibility incredibly simple.

All it takes is one localisation file. Grab RPFM if you haven't it, and create a new .pack file. In your new .pack file, make a 'text' folder, then a 'db' folder within, and within that folder make a .loc file, named whatever (but keep it unique!). In that file, follow the following combination:

Under "Key" Column: `campaign_localised_strings_string_[REGION KEY HERE]_[SUBCULTURE KEY/FACTION KEY HERE]`
Under "Text" Column: [New Name here!]
Under Tooltip: True/check the box

An example from our pack would be:

"Key": campaign_localised_strings_string_wh_main_northern_worlds_edge_mountains_karak_ungor_wh_main_sc_grn_greenskins
"Text": Red Eye Mountain
"Tooltip": True

And then make this mod a required/suggested mod, and with both active the new name-changes will be included! You can also overwrite our .loc keys and other stuff. And keep in mind, there won't be any issues if you include that .loc file in your mod and you load the game with that mod enabled but not this mod enabled - so it won't cause any crashes or weirdness if you include that in an existing mod.

Compatibility

This mod is perfectly save-game compatible, and can be added at will. I'm not actually entirely sure what the game will do if you remove it mid-game, it might just keep the newly applied names, I'll check on this behavior later on:tm: and will report back.

Also, yes, it's compatible with literally everything stop asking

Known Issues

There is one moderate known issue. If a region gets its name changed while that region is currently occupied - the tooltip while hovering over the region's terrain will not update to its new name. If a region changes name while that region is unoccupied - the tooltip will correctly update. This behavior also exists on the floating-banners for a settlement, but they will correct themselves if you scroll away and scroll back.

There isn't much we can do about this, unfortunately.

Credits

BIG BIG thanks to Creative Assembly for yet another very sweet script command exposed to Lua.

Also huge thanks to John Austin, for the original idea and for being a s'well co-creator! He did all the hard work outside of the script.

Sorry I was goofing.

Same thing stands as before - I'll maybe do it later, don't wait patiently for it though. I'm not modding much these days. If someone else feels inspired to port it, be my guest!

Nice that there's a google sheet for this. I can use it as a reference for WH3.

don't matter cause not in wh3

A small oversight has been discovered. If a region flips names during a quest, the "do x in y region" quest cannot be completed as the region has been renamed.

forget it lads!
