Description
Gizab is definitely one of the most beautiful custom maps made for Insurgency. Its stunning quality and attention to detail easily beats even the vanilla maps in the game. However, there were certain issues with bot navigation, and both the weapon caches were extremely easy to "rush" if you have a grenade or rocket launcher. The map has also suffered from compatibility issues with the more recent updates.

So I wanted to fix these issues. While at it I also decided to add an extra objective in the beginning, open a few extra paths around the map, add support for servers featuring high bot counts, and do some polishing here and there. It's still pretty much the same map as before, but now with some improvements.

Changelist
  • 8 objectives now, one being a cache
  • Added an extra objective near the start and relocated the first player spawn zone
  • Moved the first cache deeper into the map, in a small new room
  • Replaced the second cache with a capture point located in the same area
  • Added/unlocked a few new flanking routes around the map
  • Improved and fine-tuned bot navigation
  • Up to 48 bots and/or 16 players supported
  • Map overview, resupply zones, and restricted areas included
  • Map voting image and custom sounds are provided in aof_mapdata.vpk

Notes
This map edition is primarily designed for my Army of Five mod.
Still, it should be fully compatible with vanilla game as well as most other mods.
Please share your feedback and let me know if you experience any issues.

I haven't seen this map running on any servers. Has it ever been patched?

Let longbow try it see if it helps.

Workshop support on Windows is a mess. Are you absolutely sure it was stuck on 0% download loop because of the lack of the aof_mapdata file id? On Windows it often gets stuck at 0% for no bloody reason.

It was on my test windows server.

@Nullifidian Interesting. I used to have "please also subscribe to this additional file id if you host this map" note in the description but later on I removed it. Perhaps I should put it back. Do you host on Windows or on Linux?

For me in the past server will get stuck on 0% download loop because "required items" where not in the "subscribed_file_ids".

No need to subscribe to aof_mapdata.vpk manually. It'll auto download as you subscribe to this map (or other aof maps).

I'm gonna need console logs or exact errors to be able to assist with that. I can't do much with an "it won't load" I'm afraid.

@Longbow 519

You need to subscribe server to aof_mapdata.vpk too.

Played it on Wasbeer's server (above) and found it to be a remarkable map. However, would not load on my rented server (from NFO - Nuclearfallout). Checked with the company techs. No idea why it is incompatible.
