Industry Expanded Add-On - Mail and Waste

Description
This is an Add-On for Industry Expanded
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1950013035
Both mods can be used together or as standalone

Introduces Mail and Waste cargo chains (3 new cargo types and 2 new industries) to make for a more complex, yet balanced experience.

New Cargo Types:
1. Mail
2. Unsorted Mail
3. Waste

Unsorted Mail is now produced from commercial buildings in towns and cities when their cargo needs are met, as well as from residential buildings that recieve Mail which has been sorted at the new Mail Sorting Center.

Waste is now created from industrial buildings when their cargo needs are met, and this can be transported to the new Waste Management Facility to be recycled into Steel, which is now used in many industry chains, thanks to Industry Expanded!

If you've already started your map and would like to add this, then have no fear! There is a new, balanced system for creating new industries that is appropriately expensive, but it will give you another reason to use your hard-earned transport money!

Appropriate cargo vehicles support the new cargo types. This mod does not overwrite any vanilla assets, so it is 100% compatible with most other industry or cargo demand mods!

Works very well with Expanded Cargo Demands by FxUK

NOTE: Industry Expanded must be loaded AFTER Expanded Cargo Demands

This mod was created under 3 core concepts; Compatibility, Playability and Complexity

Compatibility:
Changed certain cargo vehicles (**including those added by other mods!!) to automatically support the new cargo types where it makes sense such as boxcars, gondolas, dump trucks, planes, etc. This is done without overwriting ANY existing assets, so it is nearly 100% compatible with any other industry or cargo demand mod!

Playability:
This mod seamlessly integrates with the experience of the base game, and all new industrial buildings will spawn on map generation in addition to the vanilla industry chains. I have ensured this mod is reasonably balanced despite its complexity. I feel that these new industries that make for some exciting new gameplay opportunities.

Complexity:
The third goal was to completely overhaul the complexity of most industries in the game. This is an Add-On to my other industry mod, Industry Expanded. You are more than welcome to use this in addition to that mod, in fact, I would encourage it for a more complex and satisfying experience!

This is all balanced appropriately, as you can easily sacrifice playability with too much complexity.

New Commodity Industries:

Mail Sorting Center:
Requires 1 Unsorted Mail = Produces 1 Mail

Waste Management Facility:
Requires 2 Waste = Produces 1 Steel

I hope you enjoy this mod - it's taken me many hours of concepting, playtesting, and tweaking to attempt find a good balance between these new industries. I'm deciding to release it as I've been having alot of fun with it so far, but I always welcome any feedback in the comments!

And finally, a big thank-you goes out to Yeol for allowing me to adopt a few of these elements from his mod - Yeol's Senseless Industries.

While Industry Expanded and Add-Ons like this are aimed at players who want to expand the classic and familiar TpF gameplay, Yeol's industry mod does some very inventive things with the game. Unfortunately, our mods aren't compatible with each other, as they cater to two very different play styles. In any case, I would recommend checking out his mod as while it may not be for everyone, there are sure to be a few people who will probably really enjoy his unique spin on the TpF formula.

There are a lot of good modders on Steam, maybe one will take up the challenge

@Red that's been suggested endlessly over the past 5 years or so and unfortunately making the truck equivalent to a truck drop/bus stop seems to be too difficult for modders to do.

There's a separate problem in that, while I love Transport Fever 2 and the work Urban Games has done, their support for the modding community is, well, terrible. It's essentially non-existent, which has lead modders to just leave (I have, and I created the USA map).

The ball is in Urban Games' court and they seem to just care about getting it running on Xbox. So, I would count on not seeing that mod.

I made a suggestion that someone considers making a pickup station similar to the drop off station, however it doesn’t seem to warrant enough attention at the moment. It might be worth you asking for this to be considered. I also asked the question on whether as the commercial buildings have both sorted and unsorted mail icons whether both could be picked up and the sorted mail be taken to another drop off point just like internal delivery. To me it seems pointless showing sorted mail icons on buildings if the only mail being picked up is unsorted mail.

On steam there are mail vans, as I use British mods then I use the Royal Mail trucks vans and Royal Mail trains to take them to the sorting office. I have separate lines for mal and also separate lines for trash. On https://www.transportfever.net/ there are actually garbage trucks and also a trash can than can be used as a sort of pickup depot but I had problems with that as it only allowed me to pick up 1 trash even though there were numerous industrial buildings being covered by the trash can.

I tried this mod, it works fine, however, it is a little bit complicated for collecting the mail and waste, obviously, the "drop station" doesn't work for them, because truck will not collect anything there, which means you need to have a truck station at most part of the city

Secondly, you need to plan the trucking route carefully, because truck can only pickup 1 type of resources or product (not sure if any mods will help), which means for example, if there is food in your truck delivery, they will not pickup mail at the truck station unless the truck is fully empty, even there is 1/xx product in your truck, they won't pickup, so you better create a dedicated line to pickup the mail and another line to pickup waste

No you can use this as a stand alone without the industries mod

Do I need the main mod "Expanded Industries" if I just want to use this one ?

Finally do you know why buildings show both types of mail when you can only collect unsorted mail, and likewise when sorted mail arrives from the sorting centre it gets unloaded at the station and disappears and doesn’t go to the truck depot for onward delivery to the buildings in the city.
In my reasoning then it’s pointless showing buildings having the sorted mail icon if they cannot receive sorted mail. I would have thought that post trucks could pick up both and distribute sorted mail to other places around the city as in real life.

Well I got the mail working now having provided the two demands the city needs, however the Royal Mail train I am using picks up the unsorted mail fine and takes it took the mail sorting centre. However for some reason the train doesn’t pick up sorted mail, I had to put in an extra truck stop so that sorted mail gets collected. This is weird because in the train list it shows the train can carry both types of mail plus goods, however on purchasing the train it only displays unsorted mail and goods.

I have never played a game where I was able to get all of my cities' demands fulfilled. I only have 2 cities in about 15 that have some of all products being provided,
I guess I'm just not trying hard enough
