Description
The Genesis class is a versatile light exploration vessel. As a starter, it leaves little to be desired. This class features a full range of industrial and combat features, making it fully self-sufficient. It also features a rift generator for interstellar travel. The interior is comfortable, accommodating between one and three crew, including a captain.

Resource cost:
  • Iron 41.28K
  • Copper 11.22K
  • Steel 10.95K

Stats:
  • Mass: 43.68K
  • Max Speed:375 m/s
  • Maximum thrust: 273K
  • Maximum power generation: 602
  • Armor: 22080
  • Shield: 10000

Warp performance test: Warp 9 was sustained for over 8 minutes while carrying 100 crates of ammunition. (3x heavier than iron ore.) This is more than sufficient for any conceivable use case.

Industrial analysis: This ship can mine and produce its own fuel, ammunition, and other supplies. An external cargo pod provides ample storage space for a ship of this size. The cargo teleporter is directly adjacent to the cargo pod access for easy unloading and delivery.

Tactical analysis: Due to the inclusion of twin armor generators, the shields need not be used all the time, although it is recommended to raise them in battle. Ammunition is limited to one crate, but this is sufficient for exterminating several skrill grunts with well-aimed fire. The ship's speed should be sufficient for escaping engagements that cannot be won, and an escape pod is included should the worst happen.

*Note that the escape pod must be charged beforehand. Use the power transfer box next to the pod's docking port.

If you're looking for an upgrade, also check out the Exodus class. It's like a tier 1 version of the Genesis, with more features.

I started flying the Genesis tonight. Much nicer than I thought it would be being so small. Size however is deceptive if a ship is designed well. The layout is great given I can run all over the ship and not get hung up in any spaces. Really fun to fly.
