Description
Welcome to Manic's South Slavic Units - Unique from my other unit mods in that it contains two distinct designs for cultures within the same group. Thank you Paradox for already splitting them into two separate graphical cultures!

Since the Balkans have traditionally been split between the Orthodox and Roman Catholic spheres, I have tried my best to reflect this in the designs of their units.

Cultures that use the 'croatsouthslavicgfx' culture will have units that are more 'western' in appearance, borrowing heavily from Italian and other Western Mediterranean cultures that either border them directly or share a similar religious affiliation. Conversely, cultures that use the 'serbsouthslavicgfx' culture will use units that are more 'Byzantine' in their appearance.

Affected cultures, divided between graphical subdivisions:

'Croat' South Slavic
  • Croatian
  • Bosnian

'Serb' South Slavic
  • Serbian
  • Bulgarian
  • Romanian
  • Carantanian (add-on here gives Carantanian Croat units)

This custom unit pack should be fully compatible with any and all mods for Crusader Kings II, so long as they don't also edit units tied to the 'croatsouthslavicgfx' or 'serbsouthslavicgfx' cultures.

Want even more modded units? Or perhaps you're just the nosy type like me? Then I humbly suggest that you check out my other unit mods, located in the Manic's Units workshop collection.

For those experiencing issues with the Workshop, or otherwise wish to bypass it for whatever reason, you can download a file containing all of the Manic's Units mods here[www.dropbox.com]. Simply place both the folder and the .mod file in your CK2 mod folder (Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II\mod by default).

All of these mods are both Ironman & savegame compatible.

---

SIDE NOTE: Considering that the Carantanian culture is more closely aligned with the Roman Catholic world, I have also released a mod which you can download here which gives them Croat units instead. Please be aware that, since it edits the culture file, it will greatly limit the mod's compatibility and so is NOT part of the Manic's Units mod or associated collection.

@Disco-29 - Yes, the Bulgarians will use these unit models.

Does the Bulgarian also have these?

Is it compatible with HIP?

Cool thanks for clarifying

That's just because I'm playing as the Roman Empire in these screenshots, so the shields are displaying the Roman coat of arms (as it appears in the Patrum Scuta mod).

The heavy cavalry shields are dynamic and will display the coat of arms of whatever title the unit belongs to. If your primary title is the Kingdom of Croatia, they will display the Croatian arms instead.

Why does the Croatian mid-game heavy cavalry have serbian coat of arms on the shield
