2008 (and other) menu backgrounds with the modern UI

In this short guide I'll explain to you how to get the 2008 menu backgrounds while retaining the up-to-date UI.

How to do it:

First, navigate to [Steam - steamapps - common - Team Fortress 2 - tf - custom] on your PC.

In the 'custom' folder, create a folder called 'my_custom_stuff'. In that folder, create another called 'scripts'.



Then in the 'scripts' folder you need to create two text documents:

1. 'chapterbackgrounds'

Paste this into the text document:

2. 'characterbackgrounds'

Paste this into this one:

https://pastebin.com/7smemZv4


EDIT: If you want, you can also add the WAR! update background or the MyM ones.



To do this, paste this into the 'chapterbackgrounds' document:

"chapters"
{
1 "title_red"
2 "title_blue"
3 "title_war"
4 "title_team_heavy01_blu_widescreen"
5 "title_team_heavy01_red_widescreen"
6 "title_team_pyro01_blu_widescreen"
7 "title_team_pyro01_red_widescreen"
}





Where "title_war" is the WAR! update background, and the other 4 are the according Meet your Match backgrounds. Remove and add them at will.

I can't tell which HUDs it works with but I'm guessing if the HUD you use keeps the default menu background there shouldn't be problems. Try and if it doesn't work, comment here.

yo bro this doesn t seem to work with flawhud maybe am a lil stoopid and done something wrong wich is more likely but just lettin ya know could u try out flaw hud and then do the manip to let me know if u couldn t i would totally understand thanks anyway for ur help to the comunity

I don't know if ut works with custom HUDs, but I'm guessing there should be no problems if the HUD uses the default grey backgrounds as well.
