Advanced Start

Allows you to start the game with additional items, technologies, skill points and increased attributes. Defaults to two configurations, Advanced Start and Space Start, with the option to either do a Default Start or define a custom profile. The profile selection is done in the mod menu (no restart required), and the custom profile file is located in the mod directory (Documents/Klei/OxygenNotIncluded/mods/Steam/1906667480/config/CustomStart.json). An example Custom Start is distributed as CustomStart-example.json.

A mid-game start, with a small amount of steel and plastic, on the cusp of your first Steam Turbine. Your three starter dupes have +8 to all attributes and start with 7 skill points. Additionally, you gain basic technologies including Ranching, Low-Resistance Conductors, and the various base and plumbing technologies.

A late-game start, with an abundance of refined metal including steel, a small amount of space metals and plenty of other materials. Your starting dupes have 9 Skill Points and +10 to all attributes. All technologies except a few tech tree ends such as Advanced Caffeination are provided, as well as the two rocket technologies that allow Solid Thrusters and Petroleum Engines. You also get a Blender.

Not included in the starting items screenshot is 2000kg of Ceramic.


The format is defined in a JSON file. I recommend familiarity with JSON. You can define the types and quantities of items, the number of skill points, the attribute boost, and the technologies unlocked. All names use the internal code names--I recommend checking the URL of Oni DB (oni-db.com) for starters, as well as this file[github.com].

Without disabling the mod, you can simply select the Default Start profile to effectively disable it.

If you encounter any issues with the mod, please open an issue on the Github repository[github.com]. I do not guarantee that I will act on any reports made through Steam Comments. If you do not provide steps to reproducing the issue, the issue will likely not be acted on.
