PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE MOVING AHEAD

I DO NOT PROMOTE YOU TRYING TO USE ANY METHODS TO GET A "GLITCHED" ITEM. THIS GUIDE IS ONLY FOR PEOPLE TO FIND OUT HOW THESE ITEMS WERE CREATED AND OBTAINED. I DO NOT ADVISE TRYING TO TRICK STEAM SUPPORT IN ANY WAY, BECAUSE IN MOST CASES THEY CAN TELL WHAT YOU ARE TRYING TO DO AND IT CAN END UP WITH A SUSPENSION ON YOUR STEAM ACCOUNT. DO NOT SPAM INVITES TO PEOPLE WHO OWN THESE ITEMS OR HARASS THEM! THANK YOU.

The term "Glitch" I refer to as below
• Has a quality/attribute/level that is different from that normally possible; and/or
• Has a quality/attribute/level that is not normally possible; and/or
• Is missing an attribute that is not normally present; and/or
• Has only be seen as a result of Steam Support mistakenly (or purposefully) granting it; and/or
• Is special from a mistake or accident created by Valve

Also I refer to the term "Dirty" as an item that is ( Not Usable In Crafting )
Or the term "Clean" as an item that is ( Usable In Crafting )

Strange Part Glitches
This section is about weapons with Strange Parts glitches.

• Strange Big Earner with Long Distance Kills - Discussed on forums, these Big Earners were apparently able to have the Strange Part Long Distance Kills applied and now only 6 exist.

• Strange Mantreads with Tanks Destroyed and or Buildings Destroyed - Discussed on forums, this was never meant to be put on Mantreads, under 60 exist

• Strange Southern Hospitality with no Sentry Kills/ Gunslinger - Multiple theories on how these came about, no for real proof, more than 100 exist

• Strange Flying Guillotine with Buildings Destroyed/Tanks Destroyed - Discussed on forums, never supposed to have these parts, under 300 exist.

• Some Strange weapons that don't track kills - These are very rare and currently around 5-6 are known of, these are multiple random weapons that are to believed to be created from just unboxing them.

• Strange Human Cannonball no count for points - When these were first released, they were quite broken with not showing points scored, Valve ended up fixing them but currently a few exists that was never fixed by Valve.
Vintage Glitches
All the following items were either given by Steam Support for either having deleted the hats or the hats randomly leaving a player's inventory. This obviously doesn't occur anymore and was a small amount of time and a lucky chance of doing this to obtain one, these go for high prices now. (Use photo below as example)

• Vintage Max Head - Currently under 10 exist.

• Vintage Ghastlierest Gibus - Currently under 35 exist.

• Vintage Ear Buds - Currently under 10 Exist

• Vintage Old Guadalajara - This was made by a Steam employee called Programmer Joe who made it for himself, and its the only one that exists.

• Vintage Lumbricus Lid - Currently under 30 exist

• Vintage Alien Swarm Parasite - Under 15 Exist

• Vintage Class Tokens - All tokens exist in a Vintage quality, very few exist

• Vintage Gentle Manne's Service Medal - Currently under 5 exist

• Vintage Shortstop - Currently only 1 exist, but possibly more from duplicating

• Vintage Grizzled Veteran - Only 7 exist.

• Vintage Soldier of Fortune - Only 6 exist.

• Vintage Mercenary - Only 18 exist.

Untradable and Unmarketable Vintages - Some Vintages out there are Untradable and Unmarketable mainly due to these weapons being crafted with an achievement item, which made them Untradable and Unmarketable when they were turned Vintage which was never supposed to happen.

Paint Glitches
This section is on paint glitches with weapons and hats. Each will have its own unique story on how they came about. If you would like way more information on these items, Toxins has a very nice guide on these items.

• Painted Cow Mangler - This is one of the most known paint glitches in the game, for a couple minutes the Cow Mangler was paintable only with team colored paints, only a few handful of these exist, this changed the colored parts on the Cow Mangler and it used to affect the trail of the rockets but for some reason the trail is no longer effected.

• Painted Vita-Saw - When TF2 was still new and not super popular, a little bug appeared allowing players to paint the Vita-Saw, this would have no effect on the weapon or special color, rumors say less than five exist/existed, one has been found in an inventory but the user has not logged on in over six years, players say this owner was really new to the game but he knew the price of his creation, apparently he was harassed and bombarded with comments telling him to do something with the Vita-Saw and then quit TF2/Steam, it's unknown if the user made a new account to try and catch dodge to still play TF2.

• Team color painted hats (Only Blue Color) - Its unknown on how these came about, about 10 hats (Not all the same hats) exist with this only blue paint and are extremely hard to find, and to even buy, this isn't only Team Spirit, this is with the other team colored paints too.

• Painted Lucky Shot - For only 24 hours you could paint the Lucky Shot which would have no effect on the hat and about only 5 exist.

• Painted Pencil Pusher - For around 4 months you could paint he Pencil Pusher, having no effect on the hat, around 100 exist.

• No Paint Label/Tag - When Team Spirit was first created, putting it on hats would not show a label/tag in the description of the hat telling the user a paint was on it, these are called Legacy Paints, a handful of these exist but are also really hard to find because searching key words like paint wont come up with the hat.

• 2013 Scream Fortress Painted hats - Some 2013 Scream Fortress hats were paintable through an old way of Halloween transmutes that would transfer the paint from a normal hat to your 2013 Scream Fortress Hat, there are a fair amount of types of 2013 Scream Fortress hats that are painted but will cost more.

Spell Glitched Items
This is talking about the glitch during the Invasion Update creating spectacular Spelled items.

This was a glitch during the Invasion Update where normally spells would be deleted from inventories after logging on TF2 after the date they were removed, people found a way around this having someone with the spells, trade them to a player who was currently in-game allowing the spell to be given to a new inventory and able to be applied onto the new Invasion update cosmetics and weapons. Since now, only a few of these amazing hats and weapons exist, costing over hundreds of keys. Also all items released after Scream Fortress 2014 but before Tough Break are also glitched, and some very rare weapon skins have spells but aren't technically glitched, just very rare due to the release being super close to the removal date of spells.

Tradable Loaner Tagged Items
This Section will talk about Tradable Loaner Tagged items.

Items with glitched Loaner Tags are any item obtained from a trade-up between the introduction of trade-ups on August 27, 2015 in the middle of the Gun Mettle event and October 28, 2015 with the launch of Scream Fortress 2015. As such only items from Gun Mettle and Invasion were effected. Items obtained from trade-ups during this period would not be effected by the glitch until the launch of the Tough Break Update and the introduction of the Loaner Program. These effected items however remained tradable and craftable.

A normal Loaner item is a weapon temporarily granted to a player for the purposes of completing a contract. The glitch applying the tag incorrectly to items results from a change regarding item origins. Every way an item can be obtained in-game has a unique numerical identifier. When trade-ups were first introduced they were given the number 24. When Scream Fortress 2015 was released this was unexplainably changed to 25. With the release of Tough Break, 24 was re-purposed as the numerical identifier for Loaner Program items, which in turn effected all other items retaining this origin.
Name Tag Glitch
Back in 2015, a glitch allowed you to add more text characters into a name of an item then normal. The normal amount of text characters allowed is 40, but a glitch allowed users to type in double that, 80. It's unknown how many are out there and are hard to find. But a recent glitch using a third party software allowed the name tag normal 40 characters to be extended to 120 as seen below.
Glitched Qualities
In this section, the topic that will be discussed is Glitched item Qualities!

• Normal Quality - This is on some stock weapons, these Normal Quality Weapons were created when Name Tags and Description Tags were introduced, and putting these on stock weapons would create Normal Quality weapons and then was fixed shortly after, these are quite pricey nowadays. For Normal Quality Batsaber's, those were a glitch when the crate was first released. Also, some normal quality hats exist but its unclear on how they were created.
The following items have been seen in a Normal Quality.
-Black Rose
-Earbuds
-Bat
-Purity Fist
-Soldiers Stash
-And some weapons
-Deus Specs
-Masters Yellow Belt
-Frying Pan
-Professors Speks
-Pretty Boys Pocket Pistol
-Ellis Cap

• Strange Unique - This was a glitch a couple years ago where for a very short amount of time, unboxing Strange weapons would actually have a border color of unique but would count kills, and even better glitched weapons are weapons that have "The" in the name because it will show "Strange The Equalizer" and not "Strange Equalizer". These are very hard to find and are owned by most collectors, only some weapons had the chance of this happening and a good amount that were created are very rare due to some weapons having under 4 unboxed. Also Strange Normals exist and are super expensive and Strang Normal Australiums exist.

• Unique Botkillers - These are the same as the Strange Unique normal weapons but are way more rare and were made from an MvM mistake.

• Tradable Self-Made items - The tradable Self-Made items are Self-Made Keys and Duck Tokens, these were given to makers of them but for some reason they were tradable and marketable, the Key was heavily duped and has had many people banned for using duped methods.

• Unique Aperture Labs Hard Hat - This is the only unique one in existence, currently it is being sold and traded a lot, people who have owned have said it was either created by steam support or was a mistake from a promotion.

• Unique Diamond Botkiller Rocket Launcher Mk.1 - Usually in dropped in strange quality from MvM, but only one person managed to obtain this by accident.
Glitched Killstreak Items
This Section will be about Pro KS, Spec KS and KS items that are glitched.

• Universal KS Kits - When Pro ks, Spec ks and ks kits were first released, some had no image for what item it was for, this created glitched kits that would be able to be used on any item, "Literally" any item, I'm talking Mann Co. Crates with Killstreaks on them, hats, keys, weapons with no ks kits for them. When these were first created, they went for around $2.00, now these go for over hundreds of dollars. These kits on items like hats and tools, show no effect (Obviously) but do show what KS they are and what effects in the items description. This was not a glitch when they were first released but when the Gun Mettle update came around they were

• Wrong type of ks kit - This one is tricky to explain so let Salamander tell you.
Basically in Killstreak items the "Killstreaks Active" attribute has a hidden value that says if an item is Basic, Spec, or Pro. 1 = Basic, 2 = Spec, 3 = Pro. Professional Spec weapons are Killstreak items with a Sheen and Effect that have a hidden value of 2. Valve has mostly patched this, so the effect attribute still causes it to appear Pro on Steam but other websites it appears glitched and only appears as Spec.
*No picture needed*

• No sheen/effects on weapons - Then during Gun Mettle the Restore option was accidently added to Killstreak Kits, so you could try to "Remove the Killstreak Kit from the Killstreak Kit". Doing this to Basic Kits did nothing, but doing it to Spec Kits removed the Sheen and doing it to Pro Kits removed the Sheen and Effect. But because the hidden value didn't change (i.e. it was still set to 2 or 3) when you applied them to weapons you would have a weapon that would be called something like "Specialized Killstreak Shotgun" but would have no sheen so was basically identical to basic. (Because this glitch happened at the same time as the Universal Killstreak glitch, some people did try this with Universal Killstreak Kits too). These are quite hard to find and prices are really based on the sellers choice of price.

• Newer no sheens - But there was also the second round of Universal Kits which were a bit more odd. The first Universal Kits were from glitched Fabricators from MvM during Gun Mettle. The second Universal Kits were from crates during Scream Fortress 2015 or 2016. The Universal Spec Kits from Scream Fortress 2015 were fine. However all the Universal Pro Kits from Scream Fortress 2015 had no sheen. They had an Effect though, but without a Sheen the Effect doesn't work.

Craft Glitches
Crafted Stock Weapons - In 2015, for a very small amount of time, certain stock weapons were able to be crafted, of course stock weapons should not be able to become crafted and should only be obtained by using name or description tags. (Following image is a reference point)

Crafted Giger Counter and Crafted Shooting Star - In late 2015, when these weapons were first released, you could for some reason craft them when they were supposed to be only unboxed, this created special crafted versions.

Crafted Manniversary Paper Hat - The Manniversary Paper Hat was released in 2011, and could only be obtained by opening the Manniversary Package that was given to players on the Manniversary Update & Sale. But for a limited amount of time this hat was able to be crafted and very few were created.

Double Craft Numbers - Some items have duplicate identical craft numbers, these were either created due to poor Steam API, or the duplication glitch.
(No picture needed)

Crafted Enthusiast's Timepiece, Iron Curtain and Black Rose - In 2015, for a limited time, the Enthusiast's Timepiece, Iron Curtain and Black Rose were able to be crafted even though they were promotional achievement items from Poker Night at the Inventory and Alliance of Valiant Arms.

Crafted Festive Weapons - This glitch mainly effected the Festive Shotgun, Festive Bonk! Atomic Punch, Festive Chargin' Targe and The Festive Backburner, these festives were able to be crafted for a limited time and very few were created.

Non-Craft No. Apoco-Fists, Non-Craft No. Wanga Prick and Non-Craft No. Crosslinker's Coil - Some of these items were created due to mainly Steam Support, when people typically had problems with these items, they were given back to users and did not carry a craft number with them.
Clean and Dirty Items
Some items were never meant to be clean or dirty, this section will inform users on what dirty/clean items are glitched or are just really rare.

• These following items are rare and are normally not usable in crafting but actually are. These go for higher prices then the normal ones.

1. Clean Summer Hat (Under 105 exist) Image will be shown an example for what others will look like.

2. Clean Lucky No. 42 (Under 110 exist)

3. Clean Flip Flops (Under 150 exist)

4. Clean Spine Chilling Skull (Under 2,100 exist)

5. Clean Noise Maker - Koto (Under 40 exist, Glitched)

7. Clean Horseless Headless Horsemann's Headtakers (Unknown amount exists, Glitched)

8. Clean Voodoo Juju (Under 2,110 exist)

9. Clean Something Special For Someone Special (7 exist, Glitched)

• These following items are not usable in crafting, when normally they are meant to be used in crafting.

1. Dirty Sun-on-a-Stick (Under 1,230 exist, Glitched) and Sharpened Volcano Fragment (Under 1,210 exist, Glitched)
These are for sure glitched, for a short amount of time you could receive this from the Mann Co. Packages as uncraftable. This was a glitch because the weapons were never available in the Mann Co Store. An image will be shown to you so you know what the rest of items will look like.

2. Dirty Dead Cone (Under 20 exist, Unknown)

3. Dirty Ear Buds (1 exists, Glitched)

4. Dirty Max Head (6 exist, Glitched)

5. Dirty HOUWAR, Treasure Hat and Bounty Hat (Unknown amount exists, Glitched)

6. Dirty Lumbricus Lid (Under 40 exist, believed to be given to developers of Worms: Reloaded)

7. Dirty Big Kill (7 exist, Glitched)

8. Dirty Achievement Items (Unknown amount exists, Creation Unknown)

9. Dirty Shaman ( 1 exists, Glitched)

10. Dirty Brain Bucket (Under 30 exist, Unknown)

11. Dirty Conjurer's Cowl (Under 30 exist, Unknown)

12. Dirty Vintage/Unique Lugermorph (1 exists, Glitched)
Glitched Gift Wrapped Items
This section will inform you on Glitched items with gift wrapping.

Tradable Achievement Items - You may have seen some tradable achievement items and wondered how those were created, well Gift Wrap used to be able to gift wrap untradable items like promotion items and achievement items, these then of course made gift boxes with achievements items and then you could trade the gift boxes around being able to get multiple of one achievement hat, this also created some that were tradable themselves and now most are really pricey.

The July 26th Disaster, if you do not know to what I refer by this, here is a short summary. On July 26th (technically the 25th also but oh well) the new 2019 Summer Crate was released with some bug fixes, but this would be one of Valves biggest mistakes of a bug, around 20 or more crates were able to be unboxed and dropped 100% chance unusual's, i'm not joking, 100% unusual's could be unboxed and players abused this and spread it around, later the market was shut down, same with the Steam API and all unusual's unboxed were made untradable, unmarketable, uncraftable and couldn't be gifted, some users thought ahead and ended up gift wrapping the unusual's before they shut it down and gift wrap went up for $0.23 to over $1.00 that day, some still exist but are very rare and pricey due to it being a Glitched gift and unusual. (Image was edited due to name of item)

Another Glitched gifted item is Capacitors, Hanuted Halloween Masks and Something Special for Someone special due to the first method.
(Picture for Masks exist, none for Capacitor)

A really cool gifted Glitched item is a Self-Made Big Kill in a gift box, these were given to the developers of the Sam and Max games and was then put into a gift to be traded around.

The Secret Saxton used to be able to drop gifted Chemistry Kits but no longer do, only Chemistry sets Collector's, Series #1-3, and the Merc's Pride
Odd Level Glitched Items
This section will inform you on Level Glitched items.

• Glitched Level 5 Genuine Pack (Shogun etc) - This is unknown on how these were created, very few quantities exist

• Odd Level Weapons - These were created when MvM first came out, some weapons were given with the level of what numbered tour you completed, these are very hard to find and are kind of pricey. Also some odd level hats were created and odd level stock weapons. For example, the next 2 photos are a Glitched level 1, and a normal level 15.

• Odd Level B.M.O.C. - There are some odd leveled B.M.O.C.'s that exist, around 17 exist and were most likely created due to Steam Support. (Normal level is 30)

• Odd Level Ebenezer - Around 14 of these odd level Ebenezers exist, and were most likely created due to Steam Support. (Normal level is 30)

• Level 0 Vintages - Around under 300 of these exist, TF2's old level system used to be 0-100 with vintages but was later changed to 1-100. These are not to pricey but some are. (Normal levels are 1-100)

• Odd Level Bill's Hat - Around 4 of these level 5 Bill's Hats exist, its currently unclear how these were created. (Normal level is 10)

• Odd Level 0 Botkillers and Australiums - These were created after being awarded to players who completed over 200 tours so it made them 0, a good amount of these exist and aren't too pricey.
(No photo)

• Odd Level Strange Part - A collector owns a Strange Part that is normally level 1, but they own a level 3 strange part, was a drop from MvM

• Odd Level Quick-Fixes at level 5 but crafted - There are some Quick-Fixes that were crafted and were level 5, this was a bug and are very rare.
Special Glitched Items
This section will teach about very odd Glitched items.

• Mann Co. Supply Crates with no Series # - About 3 Mann Co. Supply Crates with no Series Numbers exist, it is unclear on how these were created, some say they just found it like that, others say 1 was created by being in a trade and it timed out sending the items back to the users creating one of the crates, these are really pricey because only about 3 exist.

• Owner of two Mann Co. Store Hats - A user that will not be mentioned, owns two Mann Co. Store Hats, the owner said they ended up buying some items off the Mann Co. Store and got the hat, but then later bought more items from the Mann Co. Store and got the hat again, this is a very special glitch this user got and is very unique. There are also some accounts with other duplicate achievement items like Haunted Metal Scraps or jack hats.

• No # Service Medal - Around 38 Non-Numbered Service Medals were given out to Valve employees. Some of which employees got hacked and/or had the item duped. These are very hard to find, they are very pricey.

• Paint Can - Apparently some Valve developer or employee owns a random item just called Paint Can. To my knowledge the item is actually a weapon. This item has had no pictures or links to it ever existing, many people did claim of seeing it, but it was most likely a test of paint cans.

• Backpack Expander with Uses (2-7) - These are also very unique, these Backpack Expanders were given to, you guessed it, Valve employees to increase backpack storage on Valves generous behalf. But some employees quickly realized that they had more uses then normally 1, employees started selling these for money and Valve quickly caught word, they then made almost all of them untradable and marketable having them stuck in most inventories, about 40 exist but of course are very very rare, around 7 still are tradable still, these cost tons because of it.

• Infinite Use Noise Makers - It's unclear how these came about but are for sure Glitched, basically if you don't know, most Noise Makers only have a max use of 25 uses, for some reason some exist with unlimited uses and are very hard to find, also some Winter Noise Makers exist with a limited amount of uses, these are given to players during the holiday season and are meant to have unlimited uses but a couple have a limit of uses.
(No Photos Found)

• Uncraftable Upgrade to Premium - Unknown on how it was created, has no image.

Also there are some items that exist that aren't Tradable, Craftable and Marketable, (Not Achivement items) these items are very rare and exist on random hats and weapons that are not meant to be, there are a lot of these spectacular items so I cannot name/show all of them.
Border Line "Glitched" Items
Some borderline "Almost" but not glitched items (Honorable Mentions)

• Strange Flame Thrower with Underwater Kills - This for some reason is possible to be on Flame Throwers, its been proven by many users it is impossible to gets kills with it underwater and even air blasting projectiles wont work for the counter either. Some users believe Valve intended this as a joke but yeah, not glitched just pointless.

• Gifted Secret Saxton - You can find these for really cheap, like $0.10 but it is impossible to gift wrap any type of gift tool, so how are these created? Basically there is a drop chance (Chart) for Secret Saxtons, and it is possible for it to gift another Secret Saxton out of it, creating a Secret Saxton with a gift tag on it, players believe Valve did not intend this to be a thing but I guess they are kinda cool.

• Vintage Concheror and Vintage Fan O'War - Currently under 510 exist in total (These were turned Vintage by Valve when their crafting recipes were made cheaper)

• Duped Items - Probably one of the most famous glitches to ever take place in TF2, you were once able to duplicate practically any item you wanted, of course most people duplicated keys, ear buds and of course unusual cosmetics. This glitch made exact copies of certain items and made many interesting items. Some people have very big problems when it comes to trading duped items and others not, so buying a duped item and selling it later may depend on who is buying it. They may want to pay far less due to it being a dupe, or they won't care. To see if an item is or has been duped, on backpacktf, clicking the history button on a specific item will tell you with a blue label.
• Gunslinger with the spell Pumpkin Bombs - When spells were around, there were a certain three that could be exclusively used on different weapons. But unlike Exorcism or Halloween Fire, Pumpkin Bombs was a weapon spell specifically for weapons that cause explosions like Rocket Launchers or Grenade Launchers. But for some reason Pumpkin Bombs was able to be put on Gunslingers, and where Pumpkin Bombs would work on a Wrench due to a level three sentry having rockets, a Gunslinger completely removes the option for having a level three sentry, rendering the spell utterly useless.

I've used this guide as a source for the website I made https://itempedia.tf/glitched

I've found (almost) all of the items listed here and compiled a website with sometimes fascinating, sometime bizarre world of TF2 items

Glitches items, while the prices vary, usually cost several dozens, if not at least a hundred keys EACH. And that's if they haven't already been picked up and hoarded by a collector such as HACK THE GIBSON.

I used to own a strange Southern Hospitality back in the day that didn't track sentry kills. I believe originally they didn't but they later updated them to track it. No idea how some got lost in the update tho
