Important note: This blueprint has been replaced by the Angurvadal Mk II and will not be maintained anymore

"Where senseless powers are commanding,
There can no structure yet be standing[...]"
- "Das Lied von der Glocke/Song of the Bell" by Friedrich Schiller

The ANGURVADAL-class Rocket-Artillery Destroyer is a large grid warship, armed with a wide array of non-guided rocket launchers, both casemate-and turret-mounted. The vessel also comes equipped with a large set of Ion- and Hydrogen-Thrusters, is jump-capable and can land on planets with atmosphere and gravity up to 1.0 G.

This ship is full vanilla and easy to build in survival. It is fully conveyed, thruster-damage compatible and pre-loaded with uranium and ammunition. No Mods were used and the blueprint comes without subgrids. You can build this ship without any modifications from a projector in survival!

Caution: This blueprint uses blocks from the Decorative DLC Pack. You can build the ship without the DLC, but will have to replace the Cockpit.

Key features
  • Survival-ready
Pressurized rooms, Simple Airlocks, Cargo-, Fuel- and Oxygen-Storage, fully conveyered, easy to build. No subgrids, no clang. You can build it straight from the projector!
  • Never outgunned
12 Rocket-Launchers, 18 Missile Turrets and 6 Gatling Turrets provide you with everything you need to hit your target fast and hard.
  • Speed and Power!
Strong acceleration quickly closes the distance to your target and allowes for a swift retreat once you delivered your deadly payload. Three Jumpdrives with a maximum range of 2,500 kilometers support hit-and-run-tactics. Despite the ridiculusly short range of rockets, your enemy will never be out of reach!
  • Active Countermeasure
The ANGURVADAL brings a pair of detachable Decoy-launchers, which can be sent towards your target before you initiate your attack or redirect enemy fire from the vessel. The system is reloadable on demand and new decoys can be produced until spare parts are depleted.
  • Redundancy in mind
Various eserves in thrust and power, multiple Gyroscopes, Reactors, Batteries, Refinerys, Assemblers, Tanks and Generators are spread throughout the whole vessel to ensure, you'll not be crippled that easily when taking suvere damage.
  • Lone Ranger
The vessel provides the crew with a Medbay, multiple survival-kis, beds and cryochambers as well as basic refineries and assemblers. Batteries provide a fair amount of power-reserves and three jumpdrives take the ship everywhere in a blink of an eye. The ANGURVADAL is suited to patrol and operate in Deep Space far behind enemy lines and it has enough capacities to stay out there for quite a long time too.

Description
The ANGURVADAL-class Destroyer is a straight up front-towards-enemy-warship, designed for head-on engagements with opposing forces. For this purpose, the vessel comes with 12 Rocket-Launcher Pods, imbedded into an armored weapons-array. An additional set of 18 Missile-Turrets enables the vessel to deal with enemy ships, trying to outflank the ANGURVADAL. Furthermore, a selection of Gatling- and 5.56mm Point-Defense-Turrets provide additional screening against incoming projectiles and fightercrafts.

A large engine-housing holds the main thrusters, which make the ANGURVADAL fast and agile despite it's heavy weight. Further supporting the vessels Hit-and-Run-concept, the weapon-battery and propulsion provide the crew with everything needed to either outgun or outrun enemy vessels.

In order to hold out in a prolonged battle, the ANGURVADAL features some strategically placed heavy armor plating to survive a hit or two in critical areas. However, its best defense mechanism is superior speed. It is not advised to keep the Destroyer within enemy weapon-range for to long. Instead withdraw from the fight and prepare for another approach to the flanks.

Combat software is provided by Whiplash Military Industries and consist of an advanced artifical horizon, Radar Display, Salvo-grouped Rocket launchers and an Airlock script. While non of these systems are mandatory to operate the vessel, they sure enhance the ANGURVADALs capabilities. The ship furthermore comes with a sensor-based Intruder Detection, which automaticly brings defense-systems online and puts the vessel on alert, should an enemy lifesign be detected inside or in close proximity of the ANGURVADAL.

While not being designed to operate in atmosphere, the ANGURVADAL can set down on planets and transit back to space on up to 1.0 G. Be advised that, while you can set the vessel down on planets with 1.10 G, it will not be able to lift of again without additional thrusters.

Author's note
This ship was heavily inspired by The Expanse novels and tv-series. While it wasn't my goal to copy a specific ship class, I embrace the overall design-philosophy. This includes aligning the ships interior parallel to the main source of thrust and optimize the engine-layout towards a 'flip-and-burn'-style of piloting.

I've learned a lot about designing these vessels by taking a good look at the content in Papple2's Workshop page. So if you're into 'The Expanse'-themed designs, I seriously recommend checking out his replicas as well as his very own KMI-Collection.

Special shoutout to game horizons Youtube channel for featuring the ANGURVADAL in their latest episode of Space Engineers Epic Battles. Go check out the channel for more cinematic videos and detailed warship-tests!

Due to the latest Update, the Hitbox of the Passage way blocks that were placed in front of the Rocket Launchers was altered. This caused some rockets to get stuck in them and detonate. These blocks have now been replaced to fix this issue.

However, the Angurvadal is in dire need of a proper update to meet acceptable fleet standards again. A major overhaul of the entire vessel will be deployed very soon.

I'm sorry, did you even test it? It literally blows itself up with rockets whenever I engage in combat. I don't know maybe I'm doing something wrong

Hey @Xenon, please excuse my late respone. I've got a weird technical issue which stops sending me notifications for some of my workhop items.
I use high resolutions (4k+), max graphic settings and low fov for screenshots. I also switched to an nvidea card during this build and started using Ansel.
After capture, I resize the screenshots to 1080p with GIMP and convert them to .jpg with quality settings at 98. The final image should be below 2 mb. If you don't like Gimp, You should be able to do this with any other availabe open source editing software. Also IrfanView has very useful tools for batch-conversion.

thanks!

@Senanthes: You are free to create and publish you own modified version as long as you provide a link to the original file in the description. Go nuts!

Along with a soon to be released first original design, I've been tinkering with one of these, mostly with a reconfigured interior, and the addition of guided weaponry. Would you mind if, with due credit given to you, I put that up as a part of the fleet lineup I'm slowly assembling?

So in the naming scheme RAD stands for rocket artillery destroyer, but what does the S.ML stand for? Just trying to come up with ideas for my own block naming scheme

Thank you for this amazing ship and props for building it right up.
