7.22h (Core) Mid Lone Druid - twitch.tv/sous_vide
By svde
Pretty much do not go Radiance and you have a chance to win a lot more on Lone Druid. Radiance is just not very good anymore on this hero, since it has very little synergy with the hero's talents. Also with the changes that have made it easier to defend, like longer Glyph duration and T2+ tower multi-shot when glyphed, Radiance is just not enough to close games out and win. And if you don't close the game out then Radiance's damage doesn't do anything in late game and you pretty much will just lose.

The idea with this build is to do a really good block at the beginning of the game. Hopefully you get the enemy creeps under your tower, then your creeps will push into their tower. Then you hopefully will have Savage Roar by then and can use it to disrupt the enemy mid hero from last hitting. Remember that leveling up the bear will reset the cooldown on the bear's spells, so you can use double Savage Roar, very key to further disrupt the enemy's last hits.

Another key idea to this build is to build the bear around the level 25 -0.5s Base Attack Time talent. It is one of the best talents in the game and makes your bear hit extremely fast. Any attack speed item you have will increase in attack speed value by 80%, seriously, 80% !!! Thus Moon Shard is insanely valuable in this build, although sometimes you really want to get AC.

Always make sure the Spirit Bear can live. This is one of the biggest weaknesses to Lone Druid, if not the biggest: the Spirit Bear is actually quite fragile in the late game. So yeah, sometimes you want to get AC over Moon Shard. Also, sometimes you might want to get the BKB talent at 25 instead of BAT talent, because what's the point of BAT talent if the Spirit Bear cannot live?

Some games it is much better to go for the ranged LD build. Like if you are up against heroes that are strong versus the bear, like Lifestealer, then the ranged build is quite good. Because a Desolator ranged build will shred a Lifestealer, and the Lifestealer won't expect it.

Arguably it's actually better to go for the ranged build in any game that you can get away with it. If they have strong gap closers for instance, don't go for the ranged build. The reason the ranged build is so strong is that the hero does 100% damage to heroes, unlike the bear doing 75% damage. Also you are hitting far more often with two units to everything, all creeps and heroes, basically you level up much faster in this build typically than the bear build. I also think Midas is not necessary in this build at all, better to start building up damage items.
