Bull's Byzantines (Progression Reskin)

This is a personal reskin I made using the Byzantine Retrofits mod as a base with accompanying unit cards. None of the unit stats are changed from their vanilla values, this is cosmetic only.

I felt like the eastern roman empire's units didn't feel very unique or "roman", plus I disliked how alot of the units were similar to each other so you don't feel like there is much of a "progression" to the units.

When you have all of the troops upgraded you end up with a professional roman army with standard issue armor for a sleek unified look.

To be clear, this is not an attempt at being accurate or historical, it is just a personal flavoring.

This reskins almost all of the ERE units. For the main sword and spear units you will see a visual progression to their arms and armor. Going from Limitanei wearing cloth to Comitatensis Spears with chainmail to the Lanciarii Seniores with their Byzantine scale armor and then finally the Eastern Auxilia Palatina with their added splint armor vambraces.

I also wanted to make the elite units unique, so Protectores Domestici look like the Emperor's elite guard called in to fight. The numeroi are the ERE's version of what you could call "Knights" so they have the heavy armor. I made the Hetaeria Guards look decidedly more "Varangian".

The cavalry are mostly unchanged from the Byzantine Retrofits mod, with some slight modifications. I did reskin two cav to fit with the army: Equites Sagitarii (Horse Archers) and Equitis Promotii (Melee Cav) to be wearing the byzantine scale armor. I also reskinned the Magister Militum to be wearing bronze scale armor for a nice golden regal look as you see in the photos.
