Weapons of Thor

Description
NOTICE
I uploaded a new mod which also has Mjolnir and Stormbreaker. It does not have the custom sounds but it has a smaller file size. Thanos' Sword, Blackwidow's Batons and Ronin's Katana is also included in that mod. You can check it out here

I might stop updating the mod for now since the file size grew too much ever since I added the sounds and effects. Hence no new features will be added in the forseeable future. The only updates I might do for this mod are bug patches. So if there are any bugs please report them.

FEATURES
Adds Thor's weapons, both Mjolnir and Stormbreaker, as weapons to help the fight against the aliens.

- Both weapons' stats are now configurable.
- Both are available in three tiers (Conventional, Magnetic, Beam)
- Mjolnir and Stormbreaker can stun even at Tier 1! (They are weapons of the God of Thunder after all)
- At later tiers, they can cause panic, disorient and burn... and still stun. (Yes, it is overpowered, you can remove it through the config file if you want to nerf it).

To do:
- make the textures more metallic
- make the stats of both weapons configurable
- add custom sounds (maybe)
- add more abilities (throwing, lightning, whatever's possible)

CHANELOG
Update 1.00:
- Changed mjolnir's sounds so that it actually sounds like bashing and not slicing.
- Changed stormbreaker's sounds so that it does not sound like it a blade when sheathing.
- Added beam swoosh sound to both (because it kinda sounds like electricity).
- Added stun effect to all tiers
- Added panic and disorient effect to higher tiers
- Added burn effect to tier 3 (why? because lightning -> fire)
- Made stats configurable

Update 1.50:
- Added lightning effects to the weapons' hits. Should now create a burst of electricity everytime you attack with Mjolnir or Stormbreaker.

FAQ:

Q: Why cant I configure the stats?
A: I am still new to modding and I am still figuring out how to do certain things. I will update this mod as soon as I am able to make the stats configurable.

Q: Stormbreaker and Mjolnir does not look metallic enough
A: Yes, I am aware. The original textures do look metallic, but for some reason in XCOM it does not look the same. I will fix this as soon as I am able.

Q: Can you do ___? Can you add ____?
A: I am open to suggestions, but my capabilities are still very limited as there is still a lot to modding that I do not know.

Q: How to config file?
A: go to:
SteamLibrary/steamapps/workshop/content/268500/1832412134/Config/XComThorWeapons.ini
then edit the config file as you wish

If someone can teach me more about modding, I would be very thankful and glad to learn.

Update: if anyone is interested for a less bulkier file size. I just published a new one here without the custom sounds:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1838499827

That mod has Thanos' Sword, Black Widow's Batons and Ronin's Katana as well.

@teh1archon Im sorry about that :( When I added sounds and experimented, the size of the file went up.

Errr.... 300+ MB for 2 items? You sure you upload them right?

@Arkhangel I was abled to edit the sounds. It should'nt sound like a sword anymore.
Arkhangel Aug 13, 2019 @ 2:09pm
@Quat: Simple. Use the sound effect for knocking out a Dark VIP.

@|Pulsar| I would love to do that, sadly I believe that the Alien Hunter DLC hunter assets are not currently accessible (if it is, I certainly do not know how to access it). And since the Hunter Axe is tied to that DLC, I would not be able to take those animations and make it work for this mod. Also, as of this moment, I also do not know how to tweak animations and stuff like that.

@jackpelon7 Hey! It is nice to hear that you are also learning how to mod yourself! As I mentioned in the description I used ObelixDk's quick and dirty guide, specifically this video here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IA2PSdH1PGI&list=PLJIIUUgBKT8ger8oeO-ZgxPWwTg45hwPv&index=7
also, maybe check out Corvo's Xcom2 sdk quick start guide here:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=956935800

If I find time maybe I will try to compile a guide of my own. No promises though :)

@Arkhangel sadly no, I would LOVE to add blunt weapon audio for mjolnir (and maybe some lightning sounds aye?) but I really still do not know how, and I do not even know where to start looking for that :(

@Void Light that sounds interesting, maybe I could add that as a separate mod in the future. But for no I want to focus on fixing up this mod and making improvements to Mjolnir and Stormbreaker.

If you get the chance, you should try adding the throw ability to them like what the Hunter Axe has, who wouldn't want to fling Mjolnir or Stormbreaker like Thor does? I don't know much about Xcom 2 modding, but there's got to be a way to copy over the animation etc from that weapon I'd imagine. Although you'd probably need to give it unlimited uses to simulate the idea that the hammer/axe returns. Awesome mod by the way!

Hello friend, I understand that you are a newbie in this world of moding, but you could document or make a tutorial of all the steps you took to make your great mod, since you would also be teaching and helping newbies like me who do not know anything about programming but we have the capacity and the desire to achieve good mods ... I hope you can make it friend ... thanks for your mod, it's going well for now ...:steamhappy::steamhappy:
