Graddus' Guide to Fountain Hooking

If you watched the International this year, you may have noticed something in the games of Na'vi.
Pudge walks towards the enemy team, hooks someone and returns to the base.
And after that you see an hero running to Na'vi's Base at a 1600 Movement Speed.
In this Guide i am going to teach you how to perform this trick.

*Fountain Hooking has been removed from the game in the First Blood update RIP :(

Intro

Maybe you know a guy named Dendi.
He is famous for performing this trick a lot of times with his buddy Puppey.
If you watched the International you may have noticed that sometimes an enemy flies through the map with a crazy speed.
This means that Dendi did it. He performed the Fountain Hook. AGAIN!

The result of a succesful Fountain Hook

Maybe you want to perform this trick yourself.
Well, you are at the right place and the right time here.
I will teach you to perform this trick with the help of videos.

The tactic in theory; your Buddy buffs you with a TP buff.
After a short time you will TP to your base.
You launch a Hook at the enemy, you teleport back to base before it hits someone and the Hooked target will fly right to your base. Sounds easy right?
Well it isn't. It takes a lot of skill, timing, luck and patience to perform a succesful Fountain Hook.
I want you to know that this is a tactic for ADVANCED PLAYERS ONLY.
Don't try this if you are new to Dota, Pudge or the " Buddies".

Requirements

To perform the Fountain Hook you need a number of resources.

1. A skilled Pudge (who has a lot of experience with Hooking and timing)
2. A "Buddy"; Keeper of the Light, Io or Chen
3. Good Communication is the key (works better if you know eachother)
4. A lot of skill, luck and teamwork

In the next section i will explain how to perform the trick with each of the " Buddies".
Note that this is a tactic for advanced players only.
So don't feel bad about yourself if you can't perform it.

Chen & Pudge

As you see the Chen casts test of Faith on Pudge, which means he will TP back to base in 3 seconds. Just before he teleports, Pudge uses Meat Hook. The Hook hits Disruptor just after Pudge dissappears. And thus Disruptor goes to the Radiant's Spawn.

Keeper of the Light & Pudge

Keeper of the Light's Recall requires him to stay in the base for the trick.
Because it's casting range is global he only has to watch Pudge.
When he activates Recall, Pudge has 3 seconds to launch his Hook, but the Hook must not hit the target untill Pudge Dissapears. Pudge will TP back to Keeper of the Light, and so does the target.

Io & Pudge

This one works different than with the other two Buddies.
This time Pudge and Io stand in the Spawn (Io must have tethered Pudge) and Io uses Relocate to TP to the target location for 12 seconds. The Pudge launches his hook at the target and just before the hook hits the target, Io and Pudge TP back to base. And so does the target.
Note that this is the most difficult way to perform the Fountain Hook.

Other useful tips

1. A (skilled) Mirana can really help you a lot with performing Fountain Hook.
If she hits a target from 800 distance or farther, you can perform the Fountain Hook easier, because he will be stunned for the entire TP delay time. And with her ulti you can perform it while the enemy doesn't expect you, so you can position better.

2. A Kunkka can help you to return from a succesful/failed Fountain Hook.
He just uses X Marks the Spot on you after your Buddy casted it's TP spell, so you will return to the field after you performed the Fountain Hook.

Ending

I hope you are now able to perform this trick.
This trick is very useful to drag key enemies out of teamfights and kill them in your base.
A very useful trick in competitive Dota.
But beware, if you focus to much on performing this trick you can lose a game because your "Buddy" will earn less exp and gold because he will have to follow you.
Also, heroes like Weaver can counter Fountain Hooks by using abilities that TP them out of the fountain. Well, enough of that kinda stuff, i wish you good luck on performing this trick!

tether your ally, use overcharge, go make an enemy cross the tether
START ATTACKING AS HARD AS YOU CAN! because you get attack speed and bonuses and your ally also does get them, idk if it's deadly.

It doesn't work, because using Meat Hook will interrupt the vhanneling of the TP scroll.
