The last golden barrel is actually easy. I used the red gun to kill multiple targets at once (with high damage, of course).
Remember in the middle of the game? Shoot once and then shoot your beam with the secondary shot (mouse 2). Or hold mouse 2 for laser beam if you need. It's good too for NPCs far away.
Good luck
When I tried it I replicated the trick used in the video with the sponges and the Force Beam. It's easier said than done because of the limiter of the beam, the position of the two ends (I've had enemies walk over the barrier if it was too low), and above all; ensuring the sponges don't randomly "jitter" or worse, physics goes spontaneous and they fly around on their own.
I don't know if I even reached the last wave because I reached a point when enemies started pouring out of the woodwork and the framerate dropped as I tried the gun combo to clear them out. By then the barrier had already failed as the swarm got around the sponges - probably due to the logjam. That was a pain - a lot of wasted effort.
I should probably do that after I exhaust the world of its hidden upgrades. After all, it's not worth it if after you survive the waves, your alt beam is incapable of melting the metal bars keeping the barrel out of reach.
