Just for the record:- I travelled over the CPR from Vancouver to Banff in 1978, weeks before it changed to Via Rail, and then passenger traffic changed it's pathing to Jasper.
I got to sit in the rear observation car, and write a letter on official 'Canadian Pacific Railroad' letterhead paper and envelope, to send. A special moment for me.
I also saw an original 'Turbo' at speed a few miles out of Toronto - sadly no more. A great sound and a true high speed tilting train at 125mph back then. Awesome in 1978! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UAC_TurboTrain
You will enjoy the rest of this series, as it is a great mix. I really enjoyed this myself. Another one where I didn't know what to do - or where to start, which once I did, it just worked beautifully. I look forward to what you think. Cheers.
My latest series/collection of 10, is on the Tirol Brenner-Kufstein route, which is a fantastic route I have discovered.
I was fortunate in 1978, that I travelled on the Canadian Pacific Railroad form Vancouver, just before it changed names and main route via the Rockies. I was able to go on the original route via Banff (it now goes via Jasper). I also saw the first Turbo train at speed.
Toronto was fantastic, because it had trolley buses, trams and trains! At the time one of my favourite cities ha ha.
