[Updated] Easy 30 to 60 FPS Fix L.A Noire

This guide is no longer recommended. We recommend using the patch from GitHub below!

This is a method I found using cheat engine to change the fps from 30 to 60.

Update: Old Guide and New (Better) patch

It was brought to my attention that this now exists:

This patch has Total FPS Uncap (60+ FPS) & Variable Framerate, which is much more consistent and easier to use than this old guide, and you will most likely get better results.

Download Cheat Engine

Download the latest version of cheat engine.

Select LA NOIRE From the Process List In Cheat Engine

Open Cheat Engine. and use the process icon to select LA NOIRE in cheat engine.

Finding the right memory location to edit

You now need to find the fps cap. Do this by searching your first scan for 59.94000 under FLOAT as the value type.
















Than double click the 2nd reference and it will appear near the bottom of cheat engine. (Note my screenshot only has 1 reference)




















Double click it and change the value to 119.88. Close cheat engine. Note: you will have to do this every time you start the game

There is no risk in using Cheat Engine.

Just make sure it's not open when you play a game with an Anti-Cheat and you will be fine.

Anybody who is is having issues with this running on steam deck switch it from proton version 9.0.4 to proton experimental it’s more friendly with ASI files

Thanks for the "New" method, it took a little extract step with protontricks on Linux but fixed the game on my 144hz monitor (before it was hard locked at 30 fps in game, but menus ran at 60. Now its 144 in game 60 in menus)

Awesome! Cannot get easier that this! Finally no more 30FPS or fiddeling around with CheatEngine at every game start just to get 60FPS with ScreenTearing (on 144Hz FreeSync Monitor...) Yeah, cars do get pretty sensitive on turns, but that is just a minor trade. As we all know, american cars if the past have the best handling anyways. xD This is just the best, buttery smooth 144Hz!
