unplayable because of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ rockstar launcher.

The gunplay is mid but that is really not why anyone would buy this game. The investigating and piecing together of clues are the gameplay here and that, combined with the characters, is a lot of fun.

Still holds up despite some occasionally creepy faces.

2024 review:
This once groundbreaking title doesn't really hold up to modern standards.

The facial capture was once the best in the biz. It made other games look like garbage...for about a year.

Now it's a flash in gaming's history's past, as modern games have been able to present believable human characters and realistic lip-sync with fair reliability...without fancy rigs. No need for Team Bondi's ridiculous (and cost-prohibitive) camera capture setup any more.

What we're left with now is a muddy, poorly developed series of tiny cases strung together with an unremarkable representation of 1940s L.A. The mechanics of interrogation were never as good or as clever as intended, but it now stands out as laughable.

Check this out if it's cheaper than dirt, but otherwise it is just a footnote in game history.
