I think something's not working right.
I just created a custom world, without building anything or modifying anything.
I chose 3 Mods - Earth animals, Water + the Text UI mod that goes with it.
I follow your guide up to Step 3 - the UI is a little different with the startup screen now. I choose my newly created custom world and name the new scenario, then a box pops up saying, "Unable to modify the world".
Then the script windows open and I can edit them, but I think there's no connection to the world I made - when I add a simple notification it doesn't appear when I play the world.
I tried this again with a custom world with NO mods at all with the same resulting error message.
Is this a known bug - and if so, is there a fix?
I'd be glad of a little light on this if you have any ideas!
(also posted this in 'Attach Scenario' guide - no reply - perhaps you've taken a break from SE?)
