How to Play Dokkaebi

This is an update for my previous guide on how to play Dokkaebi. She is one of my favourite attackers so I wanted to go more in depth on the in's and out's of playing her.

Bio

Dokkaebi's real name is Grace Nam
She is a super hacker / gamer girl / computer nerd

She originally had a school scholarship but she decided to join the military instead. Despite being somewhat "unorthodox", she was recommended to join the 707th Special Mission Battalion: White Tigers. After succeeding against all odds, she moved up to join Team Rainbow.
You don't really need to know anything else about her other than one very important thing:

Equipment and Utility

Dokkaebi is a 2 speed and 2 armour operator.

For her primary weapon, the Mk 14 EBR Marksman Rifle is almost always a better choice.

It is a single shot rilfe that works best with an ACOG sight, a muzzle brake, and an angled grip.
The BOSG.12.2 shotgun does a lot of damage but it can only fire two shots before needing to reload. It falls off quite a bit at range as well.

For Dokkaebi's secondary, she has the option of the C75-Auto machine pistol or the SMG-12 machine pistol.

Since the recent SMG nerf, I prefer using the C75, however, if you can handle the recoil, the SMG-12 has one of the highest RPM's in the game.

She also has the option for either x2 Smoke Grenades or x3 Stun Grenades.
I prefer to use smoke but this choice is mainly up to preference.


Dokkaebi's gadget has two main functions. The first is the logic bomb.
This ability will call each defender's smart phone and it will ring until they hold a button to turn it off. While it is ringing, they cannot access cameras and their phone will make a noise that is audible through walls. IQ can also detect ringing phones with her gadget.
Dokkaebi has 2 logic bombs that she can use at any time during the round while she is alive. It is usually best to save these until your team is ready to breach because it will rend the enemies either immobile while they disable their phones, or it will make them easier to detect through the ringing their phones make.
Just remember, the worst thing that you can do as Dokkaebi is die without having used your logic bombs.

The second function of Dokkaebi's gadget is the ability to hack defender cameras. When a defender is killed they will drop their smart phone on the ground next to them and an icon will appear above it to show Dokkaebi where the phone is at. Note that these phones can be destroyed by the enemy team while they are on the ground. Dokkaebi has to stand over the phone in order to hack it and it will take about 5 seconds to do so. Once the defender's phones are hacked, the entire attacking team will now have access to not only their own drone cameras, but security cameras and Valkyrie Blackeye Cameras as well.

Strategy, Tips, and Counters

Dokkaebi is one of those operators that, with good communication and coordination with your team, can be used for very successful breaching. Use her in tandem with other operators that are able to keep defenders immobile. Lion / Jackal / Blitz / IQ, these are all good teammates to have.
As mentioned in a previous section, when Dokkaebi activates her logic bomb, IQ can detect phones through walls with her scanner.
Jackal is good in combination with Dokkaebi because he can track down lone defenders so that Dokkaebi can easily access a phone to hack for cameras.
If Lion's EE-ONE-D is used right before or right after Dokkaebi's logic bomb, it could render defenders immobile for up to 10 seconds.
Attackers like Ying and Fuze also work well with Dokkaebi because she can force the defenders to stand still while Ying and Fuze can shoot their gadgets through the walls onto the objective.

Dokkaebi has two hard counters, Mute and Echo.
If a Defender is within range of one of Mute's jammers, Dokkaebi's logic bomb will not go through to their phone.
Echo is also unable to be called by Dokkaebi no matter what.

Just remember, you may have good weapons, but stay with your team and communicate, don't use your logic bombs for no reason but don't let them go to waste either. Cameras are your friends, dead teammates can still access defender cameras from spectator mode if you hack them so it is almost always beneficial to try and hack the cameras.

Year 4 Changes

Dokkaebi got 2 major nerfs in this update.
The first nerf is that her logic bombs will now last a maximum of 12 seconds before automatically shutting off.
Before the update her logic bombs would go on continuously until the defender shut them off but now they can just wait them out.

The second nerf Dokkaebi has gotten is in relation to Mute. Before the update, if a defender is standing inside of the range of a Mute jammer, the logic bomb will not go through. However, in year 4, a defender can walk within range while the logic bomb is going off in order to automatically silence the it immediately.

These are the only two changes she has received but they are fairly major. Mute is now much more of a counter to Dokkaebi than he was in the past so it may be a good idea to avoid picking her if you find the enemy team has a good Mute player.

In the most recent seasons of Year 4, Dokkaebi's 3 stun grenades were replaced with 2 frag grenades.
The best strategy that I have found is to use the logic bomb, listen for where the phones are buzzing at, then throw frags in that direction. The idea is to get kills with the grenade while the enemies are turning off their phones, however, this requires swift timing as for this to work you need to be able to cook the grenade and throw it fast enough before the defenders are able to turn off their phones.
The addition of these grenades greatly increases Dokkaebi's killing potential than she has had since the nerf of the smg-12.

It's actually 12 seconds auto switch-off, another nerf during TTS when they already nerfed her.
