Description

I am a Vanilla Map! (But that doesn't mean I can't look great!)

With Old Man River I really wanted to create a place where your could see this river being eroded and weathered over time; maybe even a flood or two. I wanted the beginning of this river to look thousands and thousands of years old. I hope I have achieved this and I hope you enjoy this terrain.

To view the map as the way I see it, I am only using these three items:

Daylight Classic On
Custom Theme: NotsoRocky by Khanador
LUT: Relight Neutral.

Of course, none of these items are required, they are only an enhancement. The map will play just fine on 100% Vanilla settings.

Much work was put into the water system. It is a drainage basin, with all water flowing down and out of the map. I tried very hard to create a slow but animated river system. I have created deep pockets for you to draw drinking water and also for visuals.

The Hydro Dam will give you a quick start, but you will have to look for your own sources of power as your city grows.

I have created a custom Diamond Diverging Interchange (No Stopping) that will connect your likely second and third tiles to the highway.

There are roughly 60K trees and 3K props, I am hoping the map runs like a dream on all PCs

Highway 2/4
Train 2/4
Ship 1/4
Air 2/4

@Ginger Beard Man Thanks so much! Very Warm Words. I think the key for all map makers is once the map is complete, build on it. Build at least up to 25,000 and see what the traffic does and what presents. Enjoy my friend

I am thoroughly enjoying this map at the moment. The starting area is set up very intuitively without handing everything to you, and makes for a nice suburban, organic start to your city. As my city has grown, the diamond interchange has proved as an excellent centerpiece for the roots of my urban development. As I begin to look towards my city's future, I've noticed the real gem is the amount and placement of natural resources.

This map works and 'flows' very organically, allowing you freedom while making it easy to expand in a way that naturally facilitates good city design. 5/5 - If you're looking for a refreshing map that doesn't spell everything out but still makes for a great place to start a city, try this one!
