Enderal Face Fixes

Description
As the devs responded to me, that they might look into the weird face issue after they finished fixing major bugs, I ultimately decided to continue playing with the NPC Overhaul.
There was one Starling NPC in front of the bridgeway to Ark who didn't want to get fixed, so I tried it out with that mod.
That one works fine for me, except that one Aeterna guy had a grey face for which I simply used my meshes and textures.
People say that they don't like how NPC Overhaul looks like, but it fixes these immersion killers and I also find the changes pretty neat.
I recommend it:

If you want some detailed infos about how the NPCs exactly looked like before, you should visit that site. I upload the images of broken NPCs there.

Hey there,

a nameless Steam user raised the topic about some grey faces first:
https://steamcommunity.com/app/933480/discussions/2/3247562523084007994

So I took the adventure about setting up the Creation Kit for Enderal and experiencing this tool for the first time.

I got schooled by two hobby modders on the Construction Set for Gamebryo's TES IV: Oblivion, but mostly used the New Vegs G.E.C.K. to make a few mods, but especially translations for.
Which is weird as I actually play mostly in english myself. XD

Anyways, even my mentors didn't bother working much with the CK, but I think AltDunmer made a minor mod with it.
So I feel pretty advanced now... ....
Bwahahahaha!

Back to a more serious note.
You see in the topic the issue with these two NPCs in the Undercity of Ark.
It was easy to fix the woman, but the man didn't want to lose his grey face.

I either tried to generate an own mod ESP, but that didn't help.
The ESP where it didn't work had "Skyrim.esm" and "Enderal - Forgotten Stories.esm" as masters.
I finally tried it once more with an own ESP, but just with "Skyrim.esm" as master.
It works...
Do not ask me why, I literally have no idea what's wrong with this stupid engine.
I mean the character does NOT get touched in the other ESM, but still looks different if you load him up in the CK with the "Enderal - Forgotten Stories.esm" active, but not just the "Skyrim.esm". oO

Check out here how I check the bugged NPC in xEdit about being changed somewhere.[lh3.googleusercontent.com]
But it doesn't.
There are some NPCs markd yellow, which get changed by "Enderal - Forgotten Stories.esm", but this one isn't marked.
So it's a riddle. oO

This is how the two look like, when I use my mod[lh3.googleusercontent.com]

Feel free to report me other NPCs who have grey faces or in other words: A different face than body color.
Please open the console and click on them to give me their exact ID number, which makes it easier for me to find them. :)

BUT, as soon as you come to an NPC from "Enderal - Forgotten Stories.esm", I need to create a second file otherwise I have to add this master again to my current plugin and this guy will be broken. -.-
Guess that might be the only way to keep this one fixed. I really don't know what the hell the issue is, but I am glad I somehow fixed it. XD

Let's get together to get these immersion killers out. :D

The Creation Kit is generating these meshes / textures, so I have no idea how to change them.
For some characters it was even not possible ot fix them.
Furthermore this mod is considered to be outdated.

This mod is highly outdated.
I was working on a newer version, but I haven't played Enderal for a while now. I planned to update this with the new version yet I have to get back into to continue on that one.
I am currently not that much into medieval fantasy games with magic 'n stuff. :(

Yet it should not cause crashes as it just fixes some grey faces. Still if you think that this mod causes crashes, I recommend not to use it. Simply as this is the old version of the fix and the new one is till in the works.

causes tons of crashes for me for some reason :I

Hey, thanks again for recommending that mod.
As I thought, it surely doesn't fix the grey faces. ^^^
BUT, I can see why you thought it does. That weird shimmer makes the body often look brighter than the face. As the face doesn't have such a shimmer.
So I still use it to have it easier determining if an NPC doesn't load a Face mesh with the correct FaceTint texture.
These need to be generated in CK to fix that issue.

Just an info: It looks like that even with the NPC overhaul some NPCs have darker heads. If you look closer you actually can see that the face is not only darker but have an effect applied to it, which the body doesn't have. This effect is known as bronze shine caused by the sk map. Just install the remove ugly bronze shrine mod and Kurmai should look good. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/84407?tab=files

Thank you, but I am currenly using Enderal NPC Overhaul which fixes the problem for me.

The thing is that, I tried to fix

Kurmai Kazaortatakajape (27d2b)

who is sitting in front of the bridge to Ark. But no matter what I tried that damn Starling didn't want to get rid of his grey face.
I really don't know what the problem is and I even asked the devs about, but they rather want to fix that at the very end.
The only weird thing I saw was, that he has different hair color in the CK (white hair) instead of the game (brown hair).

Yet as of running into unfixable immersion killers, I rather decided to completely change the look of many NPCs with the Enderal NPC Overhaul to get rid of the problem.
And it worked, even though I don't know what's the exact difference to my fix and the mod authors of the NPC Overhaul, except that you have to use another plugin for hairs to use the Enderal NPC fix.

It's the first time for me using the CK and I don't want to waste another whole day on one NPC, which doesn't want to get fixed. :steamsad:
