Facegen\Facetint problem.
The mod is great so far, but there are lots of npcs with borked facegen or missing facetint files. Aka grey face bug. Most of them in Ark.

Well, except they had grey faces before i did it. So not really. And the reason i unpacked the files is to check whether they have missing facetint files.
What do you mean?
I said the missing files are the exact reason for the grey faces.
You need to generate these in CK for fixing the issue.

Thanks for the tip about CK, i assume you mean there is a version just for enderal specifically? Am i right?
No, it should actually use the same as for Skyrim 32bit.

I wonder if this guide is still valid for the Steam version of Enderal too:

An old pal of mine was in the Enderal Beta test (that lucky bastard XD) and told me a way to easily fix that bug.

But first of all it would be good to note down the BaseID of these NCPs.

00037a57 for starters its the male minstrel at the marketplace, i fixed the female (00037a55) minstrel, but can't fix him. There are many npcs with grey face in Undercity too.

I unpacked bsa archives and 00037a57 and 00037a55 meshes had no facetint files in textures.

Which is the exact reason why they have grey faces.

You can install the Creation Kit for Enderal and generate the necessary meshes and textures by selecting these two NPCs.
Yet, I have no idea where this option is to find, as I only was told how it works but not where exactly.

I guess I'll install the Creation Kit for Enderal either and learn about. :D

The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Ah, i see. Well too much trouble for me. I'm already tired of wiping bethesda's incompetent ass all the time and fixing issues in skyrim every five minutes :D

I'll just wait untill someone provides a fix for it. Thanks for the answer :)

You're welcome.

I wonder how they plan to fix it.
Maybe handing out loose files. As including them into the BSA archive would require to redownload the whole archive. oO

Except they somehow have a clean process to include files into an existing BSA archive.

I misunderstood you. I though you mean the reason why they have grey face is because i unpacked the files from bsa. Don't mind me.

No worries. :)

A quickfix like that would be more than welcome. I'm ok if it's loose files.

I think it doesn't work as shown in the guide.

I did it like this:

1.) Installed Skyrim
2.) Installed Creation Kit
3.) THIS BREAKS YOUR SKYRIM INSTALL: Moved my whole Enderal Data folder to Skyrim Data folder and overwrote everything (I don't bother about playing Skyrim :P)

After that I also added these lines into the "SkyrimEditor.ini" found here:
Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim
[Archive] bInvalidateOlderFiles=1 SArchiveList=Skyrim - Textures.bsa, Skyrim - Meshes.bsa, Skyrim - Animations.bsa, Skyrim - Voices.bsa, Skyrim - Interface.bsa, Skyrim - Misc.bsa, Skyrim - Sounds.bsa, Skyrim - VoicesExtra.bsa, Skyrim - Shaders.bsa, Update.bsa, E - Meshes.bsa, E - Music.bsa, E - Scripts.bsa, E - Sounds.bsa. E - Textures1.bsa, E - Textures2.bsa, E - Textures3.bsa, L - Textures.bsa, L - Voices.bsa SInvalidationFile=ArchiveInvalidation.txt iRetainFilenameOffsetTable=1 iRetainFilenameStringTable=1 iRetainDirectoryStringTable=1 bCheckRuntimeCollisions=0 bUseArchives=1 SResourceArchiveList=Skyrim - Textures.bsa, Skyrim - Meshes.bsa, Skyrim - Animations.bsa, Skyrim - Voices.bsa, Skyrim - Interface.bsa, Skyrim - Misc.bsa, Skyrim - Sounds.bsa, Skyrim - VoicesExtra.bsa SResourceArchiveList2=Skyrim - Shaders.bsa, Update.bsa, E - Meshes.bsa, E - Music.bsa, E - Scripts.bsa, E - Sounds.bsa. E - Textures1.bsa, E - Textures2.bsa, E - Textures3.bsa, L - Textures.bsa, L - Voices.bsa

This block is found between the [Sound] and [Movement] block.
You should exactly replace that block with mine here and not add it additionally.

Then be sure to look also for the setting "bBlockMessageBoxes=1" in the same file and set it to "1" like here.
Otherwise opening the Creation Kit will drive you mad. oO

You now should be able to load Enderal into the CK, but surely your Skyrim install is broken as of that sloppy solution. :awkward:

Weird... When I load these people into the CK Render Window they appear fine to me.
But when I load them up in the game, they have indeed grey faces. oO

So I generated the Face Meshes and Textures, but was either able to just fix the female with that.
Was actually pretty easy, by asking Google:
https://www.creationkit.com/index.php?title=Dark_Face_Bug
Putting the generated male texture as loose file in there does nothing. oO

People can check it out by putting the following into the console
"player.moveto 44ebc" without the quotes.
You teleport directly to the guy with the grey face. :(

Ugh... It seems that this modding program doesn't want me to mess around with.

Out of desperation, I generated his face again over a few times, but surely it never worked. :awkward:

Yeah that elf dude refuses to abandon his racist ways. Whiteface is so not cool.

The woman was easy to fix by just replacing the tintmask file. I asume in case of male minstrel he has different looks in CK than his facegen. Try to change his facial features in CK then generate facegen.
Just Chill Feb 18, 2019 @ 1:00pm
You are right. He actually looks completely different in the CK than in the game.

But I either checked the Enderal - Forgotten Stories.esm. He doesn't get modified anywhere. :O

Unfortunately that didn't help either. :(
