HALO Pelican

Description
This is an extreme overhaul re-upload of Drogoth63's unpopular " Bungie Pelican " that has been greatly reworked to balance perfectly and operate in Advanced Mode instead of normal.

It features automatic hold altitude '2' key at the pilot seat or by pressing the toggle next to the seat.

The vehicle has approximately 90 minutes of flight time on its four jet engines.

It is incredibly stable and has a top flight speed of 220 MPH without afterburners and 280 MPH with afterburners.

Pilot Controls
=========================================================================

W/S : Pitch

A/D : Roll

Up/Down : Height

Left/Right : Yaw

1 : Wheel Brakes (Indicator Lights will illuminate)

2 : Altitude Hold (Toggle switch will illuminate)

3: Throttle Up (For forward momentum)

4: Throttle Down

5: Reverse Thrust (For quick stops)

6: Landing Gear

Warnings
=========================================================================

Using reverse thrust can cause the pelican to pitch positively, the pelican will automatically correct for this but it can take some time. To avoid this, simply use the "s" key when stopping with reverse thrust which you would likely want do anyway.

Work In Progress Aspects
=========================================================================

Unfortunately due to a strange interaction I have been unable to pinpoint, adjusting yaw by pivoting the wings causes some crazy unpredictable movement when adjusting it anymore than small burst at a time. Pivoting the wings for yaw would make the Pelican behave more like that of the HALO Pelicans and if you would like to try this mode the connections are available in the "Pelican Controller" micro-controller. Simply connect the labeled "front-right pivot, front-left pivot, rear-right pivot, and rear-left pivot" to the empty add A slots connected to the respective wing pivots.

If you are able to get it to behave as it should please let me know your solution, I tried several things and it all ended in frustration.

Comment on Drogoth63's Pelican
=========================================================================

Sadly Drogoth63 is a troll with the Pelican he created not working and claiming that he "created it to not work so that people can learn how to build there own VTOL"

Well this one is guaranteed to work and if it develops any issues from updates I will fix them as they are reported to me :D

Enjoy the HALO Pelican!

Hey Toaster, Currently building a D77 HTC Pelican and I am running into many issues with just the vertical takeoff alone. Stabilizing such a craft in the world of SW may not be entirely possible without some hidden magic. What does this look like, I dont know. Message me on steam if you could id like to ask you some questions about what you did.

shadow there is next to no major structural difference between them aside from a longer cargo frame and a deeper floor

why dose this look more like a G81 condor then a D77 Pelican?

This thing works ALMOST perfectly given the new update, however, the low-lying wings in vtol mode make the engines inevitably explode when attempting a landing. Thats the only issue im having, aside from some wonky bursts of speed and radical direction changtes

@milesof8, haven't played in awhile - I know jet engines have been changed up too. There is a central exposed fuel tank between the wings, I recommend adding some armor to its core body structure and greatly expanding the fuel tank size for longer duration flights.

Though challenging to build, drop tanks of fuel attached to the wings which are programmed to drop when empty could allow for more of a load out style with rockets.

Ideally, you'll want a paratrooper low-altitude load-out when you do not have air superiority. Carry a warthog for support and scouting missions in uncontested.

Hey,is there a way to refuel this beast?
Klaus Klavier Sep 29, 2019 @ 6:38am
broken currently, no ability to thrust itself into air, SW broke thrusters in a recent update and many things are broken on workshop

@Hasmossis, all I can think about is look at that Vtol and how it turns. I don't know any other Vtols that really work like that one does.

@burbank im going to put all valkari controlers on to this ive already put rotaing jet nozzles on the back and got the pelican working like a dream only problem is it cant turn around and fly the in direction it came from have you got any fixes for this
hasmossis Jul 14, 2019 @ 6:21am
why does it not like flying in certain direction it was like it was hitting a wall ive fixed it really nice and this has just broke it for me any pointers?
