Historical scenario

With the success of the landings on the beaches of Normandy on 6th of June 1944 the Allies consolidated their foothold and spent the days after the invasion linking up all of the beaches.

Once this had been achieved their focus was to try and force a breakout. One of the D-Day objectives was the city of Caen: an important transport hub with a sea harbour, multiple major roads and railway lines. Once Caen falls the road to the Paris is opened. The Axis defended Caen furiously on D-Day though and so it remained in their hands.

By the 9th of June Caen still hadn't fallen. So it was decided that a simultanious push from I Corps and XXX Corps on each side of Caen would be planned. If successful Caen would be enveloped and ultimately be taken. Thus operation Perch was born: 7th Armoured Division would break out through Tilly-Sur-Seulles to the South, head East towards Evrecy and ultimately arrive at Caen. The 50th Infantry Division would support the 7th Armoured and keep the German forces from closing tha gap.

On the Axis side though the elite Panzer Lehr Division and 12th SS Panzer Division had prepared themselves for an attack and lied in wait.
