Description
Post DLC Edit: This plane was made before motors and other moving parts of the sort were added.

My newest prop plane is out! You can get it here or see all my unique planes in the collection up above!

Please remember to like it if you enjoyed!
A completely vanilla prop plane loosely modeled after a WW2 Dauntless. No DLC parts or mods.
It flies rather stable once it's off the ground, with a slight tendency to pull up, SAS works, but a good pilot works better.
It does not run out of Fuel at any point, and can fly for as long as you want it too.

I have created a video tutorial on starting the plane, you can find it Here or up above, you'll have to excuse the mic static

To Start:
Apply the breaks (click the red button below the light and landing gear buttons up top)
Activate staging (Press space)
Press [ or ]
Press and hold Alt+E for 10 seconds
Press [ or ]
Release the breaks (Tap B)
(Optional) Activate SAS (Press T)

Once it starts moving it will take off on it's own, you don't need to pull up, from there you can raise your landing gear and take control.

To land you have 2 choices

To Abruptly Stop The Engine:
Press [ or ]
Turn On SAS (Press T)
Press [ or ]
You can now coast in for a landing with your propeller completely stopped, although the plane will fight you as it likes to pull up when the engine is off.

To Decrease The Engine Speed Gradually:
Press [ or ]
Hold Alt+Q for a second or two (The longer you hold it the more the engine speed will decrease)
Press [ or ]
Repeat these steps until you have landed or the propeller starts going backwards, if the propeller spins backwards follow the steps above to stop the propeller

For those who are curious, i'll do my best to describe the way this prop plane works. when you hit space at the start, you are completely seperating the prop from the body of the plane, however the prop has 2 thrusters that are trapped between a bunch of solar panels on either side of the MK.0 liquide fuel tank, which is used as a sort of spacer. the thrusters can rotate inside these solar panels, however, unless put under heavy stress (which would break the plane) it can't move out from inside the solar panels. these thruster act as a sort axel of sort, keeping the prop pointing forward without preventing it from spinning. the body of the prop is pretty simple, its a bunch of small inline reaction wheels (i'm pretty sure i used 8, but you can use as few or as many as you like), an HECS probe core, 8 radioisotope thermoelectric generators (clipped into the center of the prop, this is what provides the infinite and "free" power for the prop. the way the prop spins while in flight is simple, when you hit [ or ] you switch from the main body of the plane to the prop itself, and when you hold Alt+E you're slowly increasing the roll of the craft in a way that remains active while your not holding E (I assume this function is to help you correct unstable aircraft and spacecraft by adjusting the default position of the rudders, and it works quite well, you can even get this craft to fly straight at the horizon by itself without SAS and without it changing it's direction at all, although it takes some time and some good tuning) because it now has it's roll set to full in that direction, the inline reaction wheels spin the prop, which stays in it's place because of the axel made by the thrusters, the further back thruster is also what holds the prop in the front of the ship, rather then letting it simply fly out of the nose of the plane once it spins up. at this point it's just a matter of putting a cone on the front end of the prop with some controll surfaces attached with three way radial semetry, and rotating them to the best point for them to get the most forward force out of them. feel free to dissect the ship to figure it all out all for yourself, and if you would like to use the prop to make your own ships, feel free, but make sure you credit me for it in your description, just know that this particular prop is a low power prop, as it was the first one i ever made, i do plan on making MUCH more powerful prop planes, but that's gonna be later on down the road.
TL:DR
The prop is a seperate ship that spins, and is stuck to the front of the first ship.

Happy Flying!

@DEZA-Nut you mean just on the workshop in general, or the mods for this plane? this plane is mod free, but if you mean just workshop mods in general, i have no clue, but i can recommend you download CKAN as it works quite well for mod management.

"Happy Flying" should be replaced with "Fly Safe" if you know what i'm saying

Great craft friend! I'll be keeping this one around. If you or anyone else reading this is interested, I increased the propeller angle just a coupe "clicks" and ecked a bit more performance out of it. It will reach about 55m/s in level flight at about 1300m altitude. About a 50% increase, it was previously topping out around 35m/s. Happy flying.

I never knew props existed through all these years. Now that I know though, I feel I can do a lot more with my own creations! You've helped re-open this game to me. So for that, thank you.
