PSA NO SOUND Fix

A *possible* fix for your audio if the sound cuts out in game.

Introduction

Disclaimer: This may or may NOT help you in any way, but I wrote this as a PSA for anyone else who had to go through the same frustration of dealing with audio problems in game. This fix worked for me on Windows 7 64-bit with an MSI motherboard (Realtek Audio Driver). HOPEFULLY, if you're reading this, it will work for you too.

Typically, audio will work up until Act II Sarajevo when the audio may cut out, and become muted anytime the level loads. Players have been reporting this issue since as far back as 2013 so I doubt the devs will be giving a fix anytime soon. If anyone would like to offer a translation of the content of this guide in another language, leave it in a comment of this guide.

The Fix

Assuming you've already tried updating your audio driver, repairing the game, restarting your PC, etc. The fix itself is pretty simple. All you have to do is start the game, and instead of continuing to Act II, click 'SELECT MISSION' and choose ACT I Mission I. Press Enter to skip the debriefing when the game prompts you. When you load in, your audio should be working and you can return to the main menu and continune with Act II. DO NOT, at any point, alt-tab, spam 'Esc', 'Enter' or spam mouse clicks during this process. Try to keep the game fullscreen at all times without tabbing out, and yes, you do have to watch the stupid ads when you load the game. Oh well.

There are several discussion threads about this topic, but this was the one comment/suggestion that helped me after about an hour or so of frustration. Hope this helps you. Cheers
