Runways and Taxiways

Description
This is a pack of functional runway and taxiway networks, designed to serve your airport needs. It contains 64 networks in total, and is named as follows:

Material
Conc
Concrete
OR
Lasp
Light Asphalt
OR
Masp
Medium Asphalt
OR
Dasp
Dark Asphalt
Type of network
Taxi
Taxiway
OR
Run
Runway
Elevation
Grnd
Ground
OR
Elev
Elevated
(not truly elevated,
see below)
Marked/Unmarked
Leave blank
for no lines
OR
Line
Lines included
Direction
1W
One way
OR
2W
Two way

The runways are 50m wide and the taxiways are 30m wide. If you use the plain versions you can easily widen them.

The networks all have a thumbnail coding system so you can easily distinguish between networks. I recommend you use "Find It!" to search for the networks since there are a lot of them. Some examples are:

One way elevated concrete runway without lines.
Conc Run Elev 1W
The thumbnail is:

One way light asphalt taxiway with lines.
Lasp Tax Grnd Line 1W
The thumbnail is:

Two way elevated dark asphalt taxiway without lines.
Dasp Tax Elev 2W
The thumbnail is:

Included in this pack is a 36.5m (matching FAA standards) prop which you can use to measure the runway centerlines. Use “Move It!” to drag the nodes closer together so the centerlines match. Please see the "How to use" section if you don't understand.

I made the lines on the taxiways match perfectly with vasimr22's airport line networks. You'll need to use these to connect lines together at nodes.

I have decided not to include any lighting as part of this pack, there is far too many variations to cover. I recommend you use one of vasimr22's light packs:
To complete your runways and taxiways, use my Runway Shoulder Markings Pack and my Taxiway Shoulder Markings Pack. These are not compulsory and you do not need to use them, even if you are creating a realistic airport.

Since there is no Elevated AI for planes the "Elevated" networks are actually ground-based, but with a bridge shader and different mesh. Please see the "How to use" section if you don't understand. This network pack does not change the planes AI. If planes perform strange manoeuvres then try and adjust your airport layout. I'd highly recommend you use this spreadsheet[forum.paradoxplaza.com] to help you plan your runways and taxiways and also edit the planes performance values using Advanced Vehicle Options.

The file size is quite high, but there are a lot of networks in this pack. If you use Loading Screen Mod then it will improve your loading times significantly.

Please give feedback in the comments section, and consider giving this asset a positive rating if you did enjoy using it.

Known bugs
  • The elevated concrete LOD texture sometimes glitches. If you place any road in the vicinity of the runway/taxiway it will fix the issue. I believe this is a problem with the game and not one I can fix. If anyone has any ideas why please let me know.
  • Some LOD textures are far too large, I will be optimising the LOD's as soon as possible. Thanks to Egi for finding this.
  • The runways sometimes cause planes to perform strange manoeuvres, in cases where the vanilla runway doesn't.

@jjb890814 use R.O.N to change the gate ramp to a one of Seb's taxiways. It works for me.

Hi, thanks for these amazing looking assets! Just one question, the gate connection seems like it will have ground clipping when using yours to connect directly to the gate, is there a way to use yours for gates as well? I do know I can use vanila taxiway for gates but love your version more so wanted to see if there is a way. Thanks!

tip for those trying to employ these with the airport dlc.... set up your airport area, place the vanilla runway required for leveling, use BOB mod to remove runway lights (reduce probability to 0) and then bulldoze the runway, it should leave the light strips at each end that can both be moved individually with moveit allowing you to utilise all these runways as normal dlc runways with airport area upgrading

@ northsidejr That's about rendering. You can check out mods like Ultimate Level Of Detail (ULOD). Enjoy.

runway markings aren't visible from a distance.. anyone know why?

I agree with just about everyone that your assets look much better than the cartoons created for the DLC. I am having a problem with "array out of range" error when I have your taxiway connected to a vanilla DLC runway. I cannot exit out of the error and I see planes start to move rapidly back and forth. I understand I cannot use your runways, but not sure if I am doing something wrong with utilizing your taxiways with DLC vanilla runways? Do I need to leave a stub of DLC vanilla taxiway connected to the runway instead?

Had to replace my runways with vanilla runways because planes don't use them, they just take off vertically at the end. Does this with both bi directional and one directional runways. It's a shame because these runways look amazing but they just don't work at the moment. For reference, I am playing without airport DLC.

i do hope that the runway are able to meet the runway requirement to grow your airport

@Talya I dont have airport roads installed and these roads still work. They work with airport DLC, but the runways will not check off the runway achievement for airport dlc. I had the two way runway in my city but aircraft were landing randomly , so made them one-way

1. do the bi directional runways work?
2. do you still need airport roads if you use network anarchy
3. will it work with airport dlc?
