Lake ships are essential to transport raw materials from the northern hinterlands to the southern urban manufacturing hubs. Cities include Minneapolis and St Paul, Green Bay, Duluth and Superior, Eau Claire, Hibbing, Thunder Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury, North Bay, Timmins, Parry Sound, Barrie, Beaverton and Owen Sound.

Take in the vast stretches of barren Canadian Shield, pocked with lakes and the Boreal forest in Great Lakes North. This region includes the entirety of Lake Superior, from Duluth to the Soo Locks at Sault Ste. Marie, which flows into Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. The northern portion of Lake Michigan flows through the Mackinac strait and joins Lake Huron. These bodies of freshwater mark an important international trade border exchanging resources between Ontario, Canada and the States of Wisconsin, Minnesota and Michigan.

Tip: Build an airport at North Bay and fly first person in a DC-3 to Minneapolis, enjoy the view!

I'm working on a Great Lakes South map that incorporates the full Lake Michigan, with navigable waters through the Mackinac Strait, Lake Huron, Lake Erie, Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence Seaway to Montreal in the east.
