Description
Hector is a coal truck who first appeared in Season 10 of Thomas & Friends. Specifically the episode 'Hector the Horrid'. He first appears when Bill and Ben are attempting to shunt him, but he doesn't like being shunted. When Thomas is shunting coal trucks in the yard, he goes up to Hector, only to be greeted by a semi-menacing 'Keep Away' from the big coal truck. Later in the day, the yard manager comes to tell Thomas that an extra-large delivery of coal had been ordered, so Rosie came in to help. When Rosie was greeted by another 'Keep Away' from Hector, she was so frightened that she ran away. After this, Thomas ended up shunting Hector so hard that the coal truck tipped over. Hector then started moaning, and told Thomas that the reason he was scared of being filled with coal. This is why he kept telling the engines to keep away. After a quick demonstration from Thomas, Hector suddenly enjoys being filled with coal, and is attached to the back of James' coal train. The episode ends with Thomas whistling goodbye to Hector and James leaves the coaling plant.

Hector's second - and final - appearance was in the Season 12 episode 'James Works It Out'. He is seen being attached to James' coal train again, but this time James is constantly saying I'll Decide What We Do. He decides to push his train - instead of pull it, he ignores advice from Edward and Harold the Helicopter, and gets his come-uppance when he approaches a snowdrift. Hector advises him to go really fast so they will blast through the snow drift. But James - saying 'I'll decide what we do' yet again - slows down, causing the train to get stuck in the snow drift. After having a reality check, James asks Hector for help. The big coal truck suggests reversing back to the top of the hill, charging back down and pushing the train through the snow drift. This idea somehow works, though I thought the combined weight of James and Hector would smash the smaller trucks to smithereens. The episode ends with James and Hector arriving at Great Waterton station, amongst greetings from Thomas and Stanley.

I do apologise for Hector's face being much lower on my version that it is in the Thomas & Friends show. This was due to the curved profile of Rolling Line's coal wagon model.

Fun fact - Hector stands for Heavily Engineered Coal Truck On Rails.
