About the guide
NOTICE: Info regarding screenshot galleries/sub guides in the final guide section.

Every official map has a number of collectible items available that you can destroy to unlock an achievement. The average amount per map is thirty but some have fewer. So far there's just one map that has more than that number. However, you only need a modest ten to get the achievements! So why are there more than ten available? Two reasons!

-Achievements used to require you find ALL the items in a map.
-Putting in more than ten items per map makes it easier for players to find enough during a match.

In other words, anything past ten is unnecessary. But for the sake of being complete (I'm a sucker for that) I've put together videos and screenshot galleries showing you ALL of them anyway!

Here's what you'll find in the map sections and how to navigate them:
-The number of available collectible items in the map is shown in the section title.
-A picture of the type of collectible item in the map. - Almost all are the dosh bling necklace though, there are few exceptions.
-The embedded video shows me collecting the items myself.
-There is a link to the same video in case you don't want to open it in the steam community - playing youtube videos in the steam client has been known to cause it to freeze, requiring a restart of the programme. This link is in a noparse tag so you can copy the URL to the browser of your choosing.
-Additionally, a link in each map section to a smaller "sub guide" also with the video and link but with an added image gallery.

As of the latest update (18-10-2020) this guide features guides videos with locations to no fewer than 883 collectibles total across 31 maps.

If you don't want to watch any videos, click the links to the individual guides where you can look at the screenshots instead. But before you do, be warned that I tried to compromise in getting a good shot of each item and trying to frame it in such a way that the location is clear. This was a little difficult and you may not be able to find them all quickly. They are however, marked in each screenshot (helpful in the ones where they're tiny) with coloured arrows.

NOTE: The screenshots are collected before I settle on a route. So the angle in which I approach the items in the video may not be the same as the angle shown in the respective screenshot.

NOTE 2: A (sub)guide for any new maps will typically NOT be added the same day. Personally I like to actually play the map properly and find as many collectibles myself (or with a friend) before making a guide.
Wanna do it yourself?
Accomplishing things on your own is ofcourse more satisfying than having someone else hold your hand all the way to the goal posts. If you're new to the collectible hunt in KF(2) and you just stumbled on this guide; try finding them yourself first!

Like I said in the previous section, you only need ten for the achievement. You can find more if you want to be able to pat yourself on the back for being a grade A detective.

So try it out! Assuming you're looking around while actually playing the game, here's some tips:
  • Look up and down. Playing the game you usually just look ahead most of the time, but they're often hidden in plain sight - just not at eye level.
  • Check the out-of-bounds areas. Lots of the items are in places you can't get to yourself.
  • Investigate the hard to see spots. You'll miss a lot if you don't look behind furniture, in washing basins, and sometimes (but rarely) in breakable or under movable objects like boxes.
  • Don't forget that a few maps don't have the dosh/bling necklace as collectible. Be aware of what you're looking for! Some (like the bar of soap in Prison) are much harder to see because of their colours.
  • Consider NEARLY finishing a wave. Keeping alive (for example) one Bloat or another enemy that moves slowly so you've got time to run around the map without being bothered too much.

Credits & Notes
Credits
An unnamed friend who does not care to receive credit: assisting me in collecting screenshots of items in maps that had limited freedom and area access for spectators by playing through them.
This friend knows who they are. Which maps were these? Krampus Lair, Santas Workshop, Nightmare, Powercore and (the) Descent.

People in general for being so intolerable that I'd rather sit at home and work on this for hours instead of going out and being social. Outside sucks, inside is where it's at!

You! For being here and making this worth it with even a single view of any video.

Everything else: just me. Even though it goes without saying I'll say it anyway; I obviously did not create KF2 or the KF2 SDK and don't take credit for that. Duh.

Notes
Priority to work on this guide is low for me. I've put in (probably too) many hours so far and it seems unlikely it will really pay off. This means two things.
1. New maps will not be added super fast. I keep up with KF2 and play it sometimes but not fanatically.
2. Even though a fair amount of time was spent creating the (offline) screenshot galleries, I have decided that due to the sheer amount of tedious work required to get all the content filled sub guides online, I will not do so yet. If (by some miracle) there is great demand for it, I'll revisit this decision. The main motivation I have for bothering with the sub guides (besides the simple fact of providing an alternative to walkthrough videos) is to make sure that players find my guide when they search the guides section for any specific map name.

If and when I commit to making all the other guides, progress at the top of this one will show where I'm at. When the work is complete, links will be added to the appropriate map sections in this guide - possibly replacing the item images. Since the sections are already a tad cluttery and I'm allergic to putting effort into impeccable layouts/formatting.

Castle Volter? Yes, maybe I should pick this up again and start with that one before I add the others that I missed or recorded but didn't edit and upload yet. I'll see if I can get back on this no later than next week!

Knowing them fairly well already, Biolapse and Desolation will be "processed" soon. Played some Hellmark and it will be added in a little while. Very map, much walk.

Well, you have Biolapse and Desolation that are officially released but you have the next one available through Beta, which is Hellmark Station.
BlackMilk  [author] Sep 15, 2020 @ 5:06pm
Haven't played KF2 in a while. I did see two new maps but I intend to update this soon with all new "official" maps as usual. Let's keep this complete.
