** OVERVIEW **

This is a lightweight mod that does a few little changes to the psi perks.
The aim is nerfing the Psi Operative to a level where he doesn't quite dominate the playing field as much as he does in vanilla.

This is done by limiting his access to psi powers with something like a mana pool.

Every use of a psi perk will reduce the Psi Op's maximum Will score for the rest of the mission by a certain amount.
Once he reaches a low threshold of Will, he will become unable to use that perk for the rest of the mission.

** DETAILS **

There are three tiers of active psi perks:
Minor: Fuse, Insanity, Inspire
Medium: Stasis, Soulfire
Major: Null Lance, Domination, Void Rift

Minor perks will spend 5 Will on use and require of minimum of 10 Will to be usable.
Medium perks will spend 10 Will on use and require of minimum of 15 Will to be usable.
Major perks will spend 15 Will on use and require of minimum of 20 Will to be usable.

Passive perks (Solace, etc) and triggered perks (Sustain, etc) are currently not affected by this mod.
Neither are custom perks from other mods.

Both of those are planned for the future, though.

Templar perks aren't affected and that isn't planned, either. Templar already have to spend Focus.

As an additional change, this mod removes charges from Domination, it can now be used as often as you want... while you can pay the Will cost.

** COMPATIBILITY **

As long as you use WotC, you should be able to run this mod, either to nerf the vanilla PsiOp or in addition to other psi mods. If you use other mods modifying Psi, that should be fine, however any custom perks introduced by those mods will not be affected. This mod only changes the vanilla psi perks.

** INI EDITING **

I included a XComWillAsMana.ini in this mod that allows you to change the Will Loss and Will Threshold values. I included some notes in that file.

** PERMISSIONS **

Any modder is allowed to pilfer, re-use or re-upload any of WaMs assets, scripts, doodads and thingamajigs in any way or form that he wants to. I don't care.

Those are things that certainly are possible to do with the SDK, creating new perks and effects for them.

But nothing that i would be interested in adding to the mod or that could just be done easily via ini editing.

@derBK is there a way to make them regain will from kills? or to give them passive mana regen?

There's no way for you to make this change to the mod, no. That'd be its own thing.

I had my reasons back then to make it the way it is now, which i honestly do not remember offhand right now. Some post sfurther down i wrote:

"I briefly experimented with using current Will instead of maximum Will for this instead, but didn't like it. There were also some technical difficulties that i didn't want to spend the whole weekend on solving^^"

So ... uuuh.. i guess that's all i have :D
Sorry, i do not really use this mod myself anymore and didn't even think about it since February.

Curious is there anyway to change the will to be reduced from their current amount rather than reducing the maximum?

@DerBK

Thanks for making this mod 😊

This only affects the listed perks, adding more via ini is not possible.
Any class using these abilities would be affected.

Can new abilities be added into this via the .ini, or would it require changing the actual mod?

Also, would this apply to any class using psi abilities, or just the abilities themselves? For instance, would this affect the Gifted class, from Psi Rookies, or soldiers that gain psi abilities from the Psi Overhaul mod?

I had an idea to make a 'Burnout' perk that allows you to trade permanent Will for a temporary boost. Or trading hp for Will.

In the end, i decided to keep it simple.

This gives me an idea, what if there was a psionic move that did something bad (healing enemies, damaging self, disorienting self, etc) but it gave you will

@derbk I found a kind of ghetto way to make the psi ops tired if you are interested.

keep up with their will losses through out the mission. After the mission is over type in the console
setsoldierstat estat_will X "soldier name"
where X is the psi ops starting will - any will losses throughout the mission.
If this makes the soldiers will ever hit 67% then i don't use them till their will restores which would happen anyways upon becoming untired.

They can't ever get shaken this way but that is the best I have found
