Introduction
In mvm, the goal of the game-mode is to defend a bomb that is heading towards the hatch that you must defend. It is picked up by robots, which then they make a slow walk or a fast one (if it is a giant scout bot) to the hatch. Now your thinking "Is there anyway to push the bomb back?" Well, there is! In this guide, I will tell you the ins and outs of reseting the bomb.
Know the bomb

This is the bomb. Every mvm player should know what it looks like but im just showing it for anyone who hasn't played this game-mode yet. This is the robots weapon they will use to blow up the hatch, simple enough.

It's upgrades
Over time, the bomb carrier will get upto 3 upgrades making it stronger. They are:
1: Defensive buff. This is shared with all nearby robots
2: Health rengenration
3: Maximum crits all the time

Now, for the real purpose of this guide.
How do you exactly reset the bomb?
There are many ways of pushing/resetting the bomb back. There is;

1) Pushing the bomb carrier into a pit

2) Pushing the bomb carrier into a bottemless pit

Or just simply pushing the bomb back futher in the map.
Weight of the robots
The bigger the robot, the harder it will be to reset the bomb. If a small sized heavy/soldier/scout is carrying it, you can reset it without much trouble. If a Giant is carrying it however, you're going to have to let the pyro or heavy handle it, which I will explain later on.
When Do you reset it?
It is important to know when you should reset the bomb. Doing so may:

1: Increase the carrier's buff (Upgrades, like crits)
2: Ruin other teamates aim.
3: When a carrier is placed into a pit, other robots are likely to scatter and will try to target you, not protecting the bomb.

As such, it would be best to reset the bomb:

1: Next to a bottemless pit
2: Near the hatch

Otherwise it has the power to make the mission harder and fail a wave you know you could of done without reseting. If you are wondering what maps have bottemless pits, they are coaltown and Bigrock.
Classes capable of resetting the bomb
There are 5 classes in the game that can push the bomb back, they are:

Scout
Soldier
Pyro
Demoman
Heavy

Why?
I'll explain now.
The Scout

This weapon right here, the force of nature will be your tool as scout for resetting. With a shot from it can push a target back, meaning that small robots will be an easy target for you to reset the bomb. To make things easier, have an uber canteen or 2 on you you should have uber canteens on you as scout anyways and use them when you are going in for the reset. Make sure you don't upgrade damage for your force of nature, because:

A: The reset becomes harder
B: Its pointless, go upgrade mad milk and resistances
The Soldier
(Any rocket launcher except the rocket jumper and the direct hit)

Why are these 2 rocket launchers excluded?

Direct hit: Smaller blast radius, meaning that it will become harder to push robots.
Rocket Jumper: I won't even bother explaining.

The soldier is the hardest class to reset with, mainly because of the way he resets the bomb. What you need to do is to aim the rocket at the carrier's feet and shoot. You will also need to bear in mind of what direction you would want him to go, so if you want the carrier to fly left you will need to aim at his left foot(the right). You will also get a few rockets to pull this off with, as 2-4 or 5 rockets will kill him (depending how much hp he has or bomb upgrades). It should be a little easier in the beggining rounds as you won't have your rocket launcher fully upgraded.

However this will take practice, as the bomb carrier will tend to fly all over the place. Keep practicing and you will get the hang of it!
The Pyro
(Any flamethrower except the phlog)

The pyro is, without a doubt, the best class to reset bombs. Why?

His airblast.

Its so easy to control airblast and with airblast push upgrades and uber canteens resetting giant carriers become a breeze. That alone makes the reason why resetting the bomb is one of pyro's jobs.

To airblast, press the M2 (Mouse 2) button. To make sure that the carrier gets into the pit, you need to push him with airblast into it. Get the correct aim and angle and he should go in. Easy peasy.

With giants however, your must have a uber canteen to make the magic happen, otherwise the giant will just mow you down. When he's close to the pit, activate the uber and blast him in. It will take multiple airblasts though to get him in, so get some airblast force upgrades for your flamethrower to make thing easier.

It is recommended that you try to save up your credits so you can purchase some uber canteens. That way you can constantly reset the bomb and buy your team some time. However, sometimes you will not need to use canteens. Example, if a giant is next to a pit and is busy shooting someone else, you can sneak up behind him and land a few blasts on him to get him inside the pit.

Oh, and another thing, Don't constantly airblast the bomb back. It makes a heavy's job to hit the robots much harder and soldiers/demomen won't be able to do anything with their rockets/stickies. Only airblast a carrier if he's near a pit or a super scout is carrying it.

Another good weapon useful for resetting is the scorch shot:

This weapon upon hit will push the target back. Meaning that you don't need to get close to push the carrier! However giants will not be affected by this weapon and will need some airblasting to go in, so switch to your flamethrower for them.
The Demoman

"But Duck, you can use the stickybomb launcher to reset the bomb as well!"

Your right, you can reset the bomb as well with the stickybomb launcher, but I didn't include that because:

A: You will be upgrading it's damage, and your main robot resetting size will be the small robots. You will only end up killing them, or just juggle them around.

B: It doesn't do a better resetting job like the loose cannon.

It's knockback ability can allow you to push back small robots into pits, really helpful when a scout/pyro isn't around to do it. Resetting giants will be a challenge and it would be best to let a pyro/heavy handle them. It can do a tiny bit of a push to giants, making it less effective against them, but you use that to use your advantage and keep him there untill a pyro/heavy arrives.

However, theres a catch. A poorly fired shot can push the carrier into a random direction. This can do nothing and waste time, or worse, bring your team down if it gets closer to the hatch. So be careful with your shots.

Practice using the weapon in PvP or in training untill you get the hang of things, or keep reading untill the 'Practice makes perfect!' section.
The Heavy

See this upgrade for your minigun right here?

This is your tool of resetting giants right here. Make sure you have this fully upgraded when you reach the final wave.

How does it work?

To start off with, buy the upgrade, It doesn't matter how much you put into it, one point will make it work after doing so, you should see this next to your ammo count:
Now what you need to do is to fill that up, how? Dealing damage obviously. When the bar turns red, press the taunt button (G) to activate! Now your bullets can push robots back!

This will work on any robots, both small and giant. This is because of the 50% damage penalty while activated, meaning that you will get the chance to push small robots into pits. Make sure you've got some uber canteens on you just in case things go wrong. You can even use rage to push the bomb further back in the map, to buy the team some time.

But, if you can co-operate with your pyro and use rage on a giant while he's airblasting him, or get the giant to stand ontop of you and use rage, you can do this:

Support classes: How can you help?
Lets say you're a medic, sniper or spy, all of which have no weapons or ways to reset the bomb. You want to help your pyro/scout/heavy/demo reset the bomb anyway, but how do we make that possible?
The Medic

Seeing that medic is only helpful with the kritz medigun, you're going to need some uber canteens so your patient can reset the bomb without dieing. With that being said, purchase this upgrade:

That way when you use your canteen, both you and your healing target will become invincible for 5 seconds, giving the pyro/heavy just enough time to push the bomb carrier into a pit. Be wary they might have an uber canteen as well, so discuss with them on who will use their canteen first.
The Sniper

Now that the weapon is out of the way, we need to talk about when to use this so we don't bring a lot of weight down on our team:

Use the jarate if:

A: The scout is using the default scatter gun and the bomb carrier is near a pit if he is there.
B: The bomb carrier is not near a pit.
C: The giant bomb carrier is next to a pit with high health. The reason being is that if he has low health and a heavy with rage is planning to push him in, you will only make him kill it, not reset it. That can be said for small carriers. Jarating small bomb carriers while a loose cannon demoman/FoN scout is trying to push it into a pit will only make them kill it. If a pyro is there to reset it instead feel free to bomb the carrier so he slows down and the pyro can get there in time.
D: With the slowdown upgrade. That way the bomb carrier will walk slower.
E: The Pyro/heavy/scout/demo failed to push the carrier into the pit and died.
The Spy

Really easy. When the carrier is next to a pit, sap him and a friendly reseter will come along and push him into the pit. This can be extreamly helpful for scouts and demomen. When you sap a small robot, he will become stunned and stand still, leaving him open for a reset. If a giant is carrying the bomb, sap him when he's close to a pit and he will slowdown, making things easier for your pyro/heavy.

Just remember to get sapping power so all the robot buddies around a small carrier get stunned as well, thus our reseter can do his stuff without getting into trouble.
Practice makes perfect!
Want to practice in a mvm game without joining a pub? No problem! Here I will tell you how you can practice reseting in an easy and sutible way.

First, go onto the menu and select the 'create server' button.

Then load any mann vs machine map of your choice and start the game.

When you join, select the class you want to practice resetting with.

Now, we have to use the developer console. To do this, open the menu and go into options. Head to the keyboard section and look for the 'advanced' button. Click on the button and then you should see this:

Tick the box next to 'Enable developer console' and then press 'Ok'.

Now scroll down to the 'miscellaneous' to find this control:

Select what button you want it assigned to and then press 'apply', then press 'Ok'.

After you have done that, exit the menu and then press the button you assigned the developer console to. This should then come up:

This means congrats! You have now gained access to the developer console!

Now that we have made it here, you need to type in the following to allow cheats onto the server:

sv_cheats 1

Exactly like above, include the _ and the space.

Now thats out of the way, you can now use cheats. Here are the most important cheats you will need for your training:

Buddha
god
currency_givepoot number here

God/buddha-Gives you invincability
Currency_give-Gives how much money you wanted depending of the number you put in next to it.

Now get practicing!
Conclusion

The Medic is also useful with the Medigun and the Vaccinator in MvM but you need to know how to use them right.
