Bren Mk.I

Britain's famous Second World War machine gun, actually of Czech design, being based on the famous ZB 26. The Bren was designed to replace the Lewis and Vickers guns in British service, becoming the machine gun of the British Army in the Second World War. Like it's Czech predecessors, the Bren was exceptionally accurate, but suffered from a low rate of fire, which hampered it's use as a machine gun, but made it a deadly automatic weapon. The Mk.I was the first British-produced variant and featured a scope mount that was never used. The Canadian produced Mk.I (M) eliminated the shoulder rest and dovetail mount, simplified the bipod and stopped issuing the rear grip, though the mount for it was retained. Both versions saw limited combat in comparison to their successor, the Bren Mk.II.

Lewis Gun

The legendary machinegun of the British Army, designed in the US, perfected in Britain and used in WW1. It was easibly indentified by it's distinctive cooling shroud, and the unusual pan magazine, that fed the gun from above using a horizontal rotary configuration. This reliable weapon saw use in WW2 by both Britain and Japan as the Type 92 machine gun, and was used until the end of the Korean war. Four additional versions of the gun were produced from the original; The Mk.I, featuring a 97-round magazine and a spade grip in place of the stock, the Mk.II, a Mk.I with aircraft sights and a simplified cooling system, the Mk.III, a Mk.II with no cooling system and the Home Guard model, a Mk.III with the stock, sights and magazine from a standard Lewis and a bipod for ground usage.
