Description
This half-terrifying, half-comical piece of equipment belongs to Volkodav, Nemisis Omen's Mercenary Company.

The armed forces of the Violet Commonwealth (modern-day New Bohemia), up to its total defeat and subsequent modernising at the end of the Popular Revolution in 1989, relied heavily on equipment given to them over fifty years previously by the occupying power at the time; Nazi Germany.

New Bohemia, asides from a failed partisan uprising that led to civil war during the early 1940s, remained mostly untouched following the collapse of the Third Reich with Adolf Hitler's suicide in 1945 and the subsequent Axis defeat. The neighbouring isles, namely Rheineden to the south-west and Aurorea to the North-East, were taken as part of NATO and the Warsaw Pact respectively, but New Bohemia carried on very much the same way for the next forty years without change in government.

The result was a brutal extreme right-wing regime that not only suppressed those of ethnic minorities, but also those who thought a certain way, which they could pick out through 'thought divining' techniques akin to that of telepathy, although with only results that were seen on paper and not otherwise proven scientifically, thereby created a system that worked on superstition and not reason.

Nearly a million 'Waywards' were arrested and either enslaved for industrial or military purposes, following compulsory lobotomy, or were exterminated in concentration camps.

As the Violet Commonwealth was not a member of the United Nations, yet had an immensely powerful army and a stockpile of nuclear equipped rockets based off of the prototype 'VX Rocket' of Nazi Design, no nation dared, or in some cases, even bothered to deal with them. Eventually, they signed a non-aggression pact with the United States in the event in a Soviet invasion from the Aurorean Soviet Socialist Republic, in Spring, 1953.

At the time of the collapse of the Violet Commonwealth, as a result of the Popular Revolution in 1989, much of the armed forces weaponry, vehicles and equipment was of German stock, aged and growing unreliable. However, they still had an advantage over the victorious revolutionaries in the beginning of the Civil War in 1984, for they relied heavily on even older weaponry, the oldest guns dating from the 1880s.

Nemisis Omen, and four of his fellow mercenaries (Olga Blackhart, Phantom Payne, Rebecca Hogg and Dr. Louis de Cugnot) were able to turn the tide of the war using guerilla tactics and making improvements to some existing arms used by the revolutionaries. Upon victory, they were paraded as heroes, which grew even more upon their prevention of a Soviet invasion shortly afterwards.

Upon Omen's return to New Bohemia after disappearing in Germany in 1990, he set out to rebuild his crew, enlisting the services of Yuri Andromedev, a drunken ex-Soviet pilot, and the Scarlet Raider, the masked leader of the Revolution. Before the three of them left, the new government of New Bohemia presented Omen with a gift for his services; a FLAK Gun formerly used by the Commonwealth.

It was subsequently welded to the front deck of Omen's troopship and mobile headquarters, the SS Wolves' Haven.

Upon reuniting his company, they all decided to personalise the gun, naming it 'TERENCE' (for unknown reasons) and painting all kinds of flags, logos and even an angry face on its blast shield!

The name of the gun stuck, and Olga, being a ridiculously good sketcher, penned a farcical comic book story called 'TERENCE THE TRAUMATISER'.

'TERENCE', along with the 'WOLVES' HAVEN,' can still be seen today in New Bohemia's National Maritime Museum, in the port city of Depressia.
