This guide explains how the YOS badge works, and why it may display incorrectly, as well as provides a list of the cool old account and show's whom the oldest account belongs.

How to get this badge?

You will receive a new badge on every anniversary of your account creation. The design of the badge changes every 3 years, curently we have 7 different designs among 19 badges, you can see them below.

Years of service

First Steam Account Ever.

The first account belongs to a valve employee Steven Noonan, he is Software Engineer at valve, and notably also worked on Valve Anti Cheat
(VAC system)

it's funny but his account is only 1 second older than second place, which belongs to another Valve employee Erik Johnson, He is an ex-Half-Life 1 tester and one of Valve's business development authorities. Notably he's working on valve for 24years now, from Apr 1998.

These accounts were created 2days before steam even launched.
Steam release date was September 12, 2003, while their and many other old Valve employee's accounts were created on September 10 and 11, 2003

My badge is bugged!

if you don't get a badge or it displays incorrectly, it's most likely due to the fact that you didn't spend 5$ on steam to remove the account's limitations. It usually becomes fine after you spend 5$ on steam.
