-So... what's this about?-
This guide will help you figure out how to literally get one hit on an opponent to take their stock. I will be talking about the neutral, approaching, tips, upgrades to buy, and methods of killing.
-The basics-
yeahokclicktoattackwasdtomoveyadayadaok.

The weapons can be classified into a rock - paper - scissors game.

Sword beats Bow, Bow beats Hammer, Hammer beats Sword. While this makes sense, this isn't entirely true. Sword can beat hammer, and also can lose to bow.

The hammer and sword are equipped with two forms of attacks. A horizontal and vertical swing, both of which have their own uses.
The horizontal swing seems to be more useful than the vertical, thus used more, however, the vertical is equally as useful, which I will go into later. Smart use of both usually ends in your enemies death :)
-The Neutral and Approaching-
"The Neutral" is a phase during gameplay when no person has a situational advantage over the other. The objective is to "win the neutral" by landing a hit, and learning the neutral is incredibly important, especially on the first parts of the battle.

I like to seperate the neutral into two forms. Offensive and Defensive, both of which are effective and useful. In the neutral, there is usually one offensive and one defensive player. having two of the same type is difficult to manage because there is little openings in each side, which results in a game of luck.

OFFENSIVE
Playing offensive in the neutral is always advancing on the enemy, pressuring with side swings and moving left and right. Your goal is to find an opening to attack. KEEP IN MIND that when you can hit an opponent, your opponent can hit you.

DEFENSIVE
To play defensive you must be able to handle pressure from the opponent, and punsh their mistakes. Your goal is to leave yourself invulnerable while still getting the kill.

I have seperated options of offensive and defensive maneuvers into sections.

Offensive option #1
A basic option to play offensively is to "draw V's." This is a form of pressure, so don't expect to get any kills.
After drawing V's for a short while, a good way to go in for the kill is to walk in front of them with a side swing to the opposite direction of their swing.

Offensive option #2
Finding opportunties for a vertical swing is a lethal strategy if your opponent likes to use side swing a lot. Before and after side swing launches, there is a small amount of lag that you can punish with a vertical swing. I call this "swing lag."

Offensive option #3
Kick spamming is real fun to do and almost always works, though it does leave you vulnerable. It's simple, all you need to do is make sure your always facing the enemy and spam kick. Because of the small speed boost the kick gives, it ensures you are near the enemy in kick range.

Defensive option #1
Kicking is a incredible tool, securing kills almost every time you land one. To land a defensive kick, you have to punish an offensive maneuver's swing lag. It is important to know that a kick on the ground pushes you forward a little, making it faster than running. That means if an opponent who attacks and walks backwardsto create a gap, you can close the gap betwwen you and the person with a kick or two to catch up. A tip for this is don't be afraid of closing that gap, because the kick is a short ranged move that is shorter than the sword. Keep in mind that this does leave you vulnerable, but tbh your not putting out too much risk.

Defensive option #2
Side swing spam is an excellent tool to keep your opponent at bay, and punishes mistakes by brutally cutting them in half. To do this, you need to slowly walk backwards and side swing. Pretty simple.

Defensive option #3
The bow is actually an incredibly versatile tool, especially at close combat (ironically.)
Using the bow as a suprise attack while approaching is a smart way to kill an opponent, because it reaches much farther and faster than any other form of attack. However, it does not move fast enough to be shot at from far away.

Defensive option #4
Camping... ugh. Even though this strategy is annoying as hell, it is still a way to kill your opponent. Basically you run away as far as possible and use your bow to shoot opponents. Be careful though, because it can be countered with deflect arrows.
-Upgrading-
Upgrading is a huge part of 1v1 duels, as it allows you to execute your playstyle.
The upgrading board gives you two points after every death, and looks like this:

Here is a list of common loadouts and their score out of 10 IN MY OPINION on the FIRST two points.

Jetpack - 5 - Ehhh its alright. Good for suprise attacks.
Armor/Bow - 8.5 - Great choice for a defensive player.
Armor/Fire Sword - 7.5 - A good option for player withour armour.
Reflect Arrows - 2 - Not worth the double points, but can be good if the opponent camps.
Armor/Kick - 9 - One of the best choices and my personal fave.
Kick/Bow - 7 - Super good for spacing and pretty much gaurantees a kill after a kick.
Fire Sword/Kick - 8 - +10 respect if you do this but it isnt the best.
Hammer/Armor - 7.5 - Pretty good choice, hammer breaks through armour.
Hammer/Kick - 6 - I don't see this often but still a pretty solid choice.
Energy/Bow - 7 - Good choice for people who can really make use of the bow.

This is all subject to the player. Comment if you disagree and I will probably reconsider :)

Here are some good loadouts to consider on the last two stocks - (The reason there are two armours in some is because it makes 4 points total in the end)

Sword-

FireSword/Armor/Kick/Armor
Kick/Bow/Armor/Armor
Kick/Get Up/Armor/Armor

Bow / Energy User-

Energy/Energy/Energy/FlameBreathe
Bow/Energy/Kick/Armor
Bow/Armour/Kick/Armor
Bow/Kick/GetUp/Armor

Hammer -

Hammer/Kick/Getup/Armor
Hammer/Size/Kick/Armor
Hammer/Bow/Size/Armor
-MindGames-
A mindgame is mentally outwitting your opponent. The amount of mindgames really isn't much in this game so gimme reccomendations.

Well, here is the pathetic list of mindgames...

1. Suprise Kick
This only works if the opponent has deflect arrows and you have a bow.
Basically you walk upto the opponent with a charged bow. Do not shoot the arrow and switch to the sword, kick them and kill them.

2. Suprise Bow
Walk up to a person with a sword and out of nowhere, switch to your bow and shoot an arrow asap.

3. The generic one.
Literally attack from above/behind, with preferably a bow beacuse it gives the opponent little time to react.

4. Suprise Hammer. Credit to Chopper for this one :)
While approaching, pull out the hammer when least expected and swing.
Tell me one and I'll write it down plis
-Tips in General-
Here are some tips to consider in the heat of a battle-

-If you have a bow, try not to jump as often.
-If you are using a sword, try vertical swings more.
-If you are using a hammer, never use vertical swing.
-Dont repeat mindgames.
-Jump and side swing pointed downwards.
-Don't camp.
-Kick often to remind your foe not to get too close.
-Kicking and running at the same time makes you faster.
-Attack from above.

These are just a few of many things you can do to improve, so don't only do these.

ehhhhh speaking of hammer vertical swing, it can be pretty versatile when doing unexpected attacks such as accepting enemy when theyre about to come from above or you're flying above them and about to get in contact. also its pretty cool in defence cuz vertical swing is way faster than some other attacks and you can just trick a charging enemy into a death. but both vertical and horisontal swings and hammer itself is useless against a well-aimed bowman
