Wall Light

June 15th 2020 Performance Update
I have rewritten the entire mod to alleviate performance concerns that have been brought to my attention. From my own testing this new version has no significant difference in performance between these wall lights and the vanilla standing lamps.

These lights go directly on your walls. If the wall they are on gets deconstructed/destroyed they too will be destroyed.

Research requirements mirror those of the regular standing lamp. 'Electricity' research for the regular light, and 'Colored Lights' for the colored ones.

Extra Features
  • Configurable Balance: Choose how much steel a light should cost to build, how much power it uses, and the radius of the light it generates.
  • Show Lit Radius: When placing a light this option will display a rough estimation of the area around the light that will be considered lit when placed. It will also show the already existing lit area in the room to ensure your entire base is properly lit.
  • Show Facing on Name: If this option is toggled on, the name of the wall light will include which direction it is facing, for when you have multiple lights facing different directions on the same piece of wall.
  • Extended Colors: Includes the mod 'Wall Light - Extended Colors' by SineSwiper. When enabled, it will add new lights with the colors: Yellow, Magenta, Cyan, Rose, Violet, Azure, Spring Green, Chartreuse, and Orange.

  • Also includes Wall Sun Lights (Requires colored lights research, because purple):
  • Can be disabled if you have no use for them.
  • Can be configured like the regular wall lights.
  • Has a 'White Mode' option if the bright purple light bothers you.

  • Japanese - Proxyer
  • German - Kato
  • Russian - roman_kh
  • Spanish - 7f45k

how can i translate it?
Murmur  [author] Nov 24 @ 1:56am
It's like the mod didn't download right or something try unsubscribing and resubscribing, and if that doesn't work, unsubscribe, manually delete the mod from your workshop folder, and resubscribe. And if you don't know how to do that, unsubscribe, download the non steam version linked above and use that instead.

using the lighting overlay with TD enhancement pack, when i select the wall light the overlay doesn't change..meaning i have to turn on the overlay manually when placing a wall light so i can see how dark the rooms are., otherwise it wont show..is that normal?

Hello Murmur,

since the current german translation of your mod is faulty and incomplete, i have created a mod with a new translation that can be found in the steam workshop. I remember that I created a translation for you months ago. Unfortunately some things seem to have changed. Anyway, you are welcome to point out the new translation and therefore you don't have to adapt the German translation yourself.

Best regards! :steamhappy:

I should have looked for "torch" instead of "sconce", then I would have found it: "Wall Torch Expanded". Guess I will look into that. Though from the first look, I wasn't really liking the look of those torches, looked a bit big. Anyway, off topic...

Still, if you ever feel like it, I'd not mind a nice wall sconce being part of this mod.

Isn't there a mod that does that already? I don't know the name but I've seen screenshots with wall torches.

I love this mod, pretty much an essential one, putting something in that I feel like should be part of the base game. So, big thank you for it, even if it's just "one thing" this mod does, it's something that is present in every of my colonies at some point!

Currently I'm doing a medieval colony though and I was wondering, could you expand this mod by putting in torch sconces?
That'd just be absolutely awesome for a pre-electricity colony!
