Legendary Confederations

Description
This mod lets you invite legendary lords to join your team at the start of a campaign. Be it just one, or two, or everyone to do an epic Avengers-style team-up! Unique agents follow along! You can choose between only inviting the characters, or have full confederations with regions included. Perfect for those who loathe nagging the AI into confederating every single campaign, or greatly prefer the unique characters over generic lords.

WHAT IT DOES: At the start of a campaign, your race's legendary lords are added to your roster along with any unique agents. Depending on your settings, you can choose to leave their old factions, armies and regions independent or claim these too.

EXCEPTIONS: Tomb Kings and Vampire Coast cannot confederate in vanilla, but are covered as optional mods (see links). Warriors of Chaos and Beastmen are excluded as they acquire their Legendary Lords through challenges.

BALANCE IMPACT: The mod's only goal is providing lords, but naturally this is a potential power boost. If need be, raise the difficulty or supplement with mods that affect balance!

To enable customization options, subscribe to the new Mod Configuration Tool.
Options appear inside the MCT menu only after a campaign is initiated!

TAILOR YOUR NEW TEAM: Decide which legendary lords join your forces! Is Skarsnik not part of Grimgor's great Waaagh? Is Tyrion's call for aid disregarded by Alith Anar? Your choice!

THEATRES OF WAR MODE: Regular confederations! You gain the territories of each respective lord. Use the "Abandon Settlement" option if you don't wish to invest resources defending any of the new regions. The legendary lords you acquire can be instantly put back into the character roster by replacing them. Don't hesitate to disband any new armies you cannot afford to finance with your starting economy.

DEADLY ALLIANCES MODE: Set the stage for World War Warhammer! The AI legendary lords also confederate (regular way) and form power blocks (Dark Elves led by Malekith, Dwarfs led by Thorgrim, etc.) This is mostly a bonus mode, expect things to be unbalanced and wild!

Save compatible, but confederations occur on turn 1 and any confederated lords will remain.
Highly compatible with the vast majority of mods including large overhauls such as SFO.
Only supports officially playable factions (exception made for Mixu lords if you use MCT).
Basic multiplayer is supported, however combining the mod with MCT for multiplayer is not supported (but you can try and see if it works).
Does not require any DLC (but lords from missing DLC don't transfer).
Does not edit startpos.

To avoid overlapping, I don't include fixes for relevant vanilla game bugs and instead redirect you to get the Community Bug Fix mod (a must-have mod anyways!) The only other relevant issue for the mod is that factions which aren't absorbed fully in confederation may use their old faction leader's voice in diplomacy (CA didn't intend for them to "survive" a confederation).

WH3 VERSION?
Due to much more limited time for modding, I won't be making a sequel mod to this for WH3. However, I've gifted all the code and material to my friend and co-author, Sm0kin. So it is in a good home and might resurface again. Sm0kin is also the author of the Recruit Defeated Legendary Lords mod which has been ported into WH3. If you are lord collector fan, I highly recommend you try that mod as a replacement for this.

COMMENT SECTION IS CLOSED!
Now that the WH2-era is over and we're all off to WH3, I feel comfortable ending live tech support and closing the comment section as I'll no longer be monitoring it. For any remaining WH2 diehards, fret not as I've put all Troubleshooting and FAQs here[docs.google.com]. It should answer any misunderstandings and provide solutions to any genuine issues like the odd case of mod data corruption.
