Bounty Unlockables & Guide
By DomBobomb
You're at a table with a hulking ex-OSI agent, a crazed power-hungry robot from another planet, an S-Mart employee who's travelled through time killing demons, and a talking dog with a partner whos a "hyperkinetic rabbity thing".

Oh. And the dealer's a homicidal, science loving, AI.

What's a person to do?
Play some poker.

If you're having trouble winning a hand, beating a challenge or the word "River" makes you wonder why we're talking about the water, you're in luck.

This guide's here to help.

The Basics
So you're looking to unlock all of these?

Well look no further, I'm going to help guide your through this.

During the start of your first game, you'll be introduced to the Bounty System, it's pretty simple, but just in case;

  • You're give 3 objectives at random.
  • The objectives themselves are pretty straight forward, but can be tedious to unlock sometimes.
  • When you've completed the 3 objectives, at the start of your next game, one of the Opponents will have to offer up a Bounty item.
  • In order to win the Bounty, you need to win the tournament.
  • If you fail the tournament, don't fret, your Bounty doesn't reset, your next game will give you another opportunity until you get it.
  • Each character has a unique Bounty, which I'll list below;
-------------Characters & Bounties-------------
Brock Samson - ORB
A reference to The Venture Bro's Episode - ORB.

"The Orb is a device of unknown purpose, constructed over hundreds of years and inextricably linked with the last several generations of the Guild of Calamitous Intent. According to Lloyd Venture, "Archimedes himself began the construction with little more than a mirror alignment; da Vinci added the gearings; Newton the lenses; Galileo the prisms! All of the great poets, painters, scientists, alchemists and philosophers have had the orb in their hands." It has been theorized to be a great weapon or a power source"*

When this Bounty is won from Brock, it unlocks the following items and achievements;

Borderlands 2 - Nothing Ventured skin for Salvador**
Team Fortress 2 - Brock's Bowie knife for the Heavy

Orb 'n' Legends
Achievement

**Note: You'll need to download the Borderlands 2 skin, but the Team Fortress two item is tied to your account and it will already be in your backpack.

*Reference: Orb device at VentureFans wiki[venturefans.org]
Ash Williams - Necronomicon ex Mortis
The Necronomicon Ex Mortis is a reference to The Evil Dead series of movies;

"The Necronomicon is said to have been written by the Dark Ones, bound in human flesh and inked in blood. This text contained prophecies, funerary incantions, and demon resurrection passages. In the first two films, the book is found by Professor Raymond Knowby. In the third film, it is in a graveyard, being that it is almost 700 years before Knowby was even born."*

When this Bounty is won from Ash, it unlocks the following items;

Borderlands 2 - Guy with the Gun skin for Axton** (based on Evil Ash from Army of Darkness[evildead.wikia.com])
Team Fortress 2 - The Pyro's Evil Ash Skull Hemlet (based on Evil Ash from Army of Darkness[evildead.wikia.com])

Book 'Em Achievement

*Reference: Evil Dead Wikia[evildead.wikia.com]

**Note: You'll need to download the Borderlands 2 skin, but the Team Fortress two item is tied to your account and it will already be in your backpack.
Sam - Sam's Banjo
Sam's Banjo is a reference to Sam & Max; Series One Episode two - Situation: Comedy, where Sam is required to play his Banjo.*

When this Bounty is won from Sam, it unlocks the following items;

Borderlands 2 - Hippity Hoppity skin for Gaige**
Team Fortress 2 - The Sniper's Sam Hat

Banjo Hero Achievement

*Reference: Sam & Max Wikia[samandmax.wikia.com]

**Note: You'll need to download the Borderlands 2 skin, but the Team Fortress two item is tied to your account and it will already be in your backpack.
Claptrap - VGA Award 2012
This bounty is in reference to the VGA Award that Claptraps won for Character of the Year in 2012 (beating out Wheatley & GLaDOS incidentally).

When this Bounty has been won from Claptrap it unlocks the following items and achievement;

Borderlands 2 - Bluffer's Bone for Maya**
Team Fortress 2 - The Spy's Handsome Jack Mask

Trophy Wife Achievement

**Note: You'll need to download the Borderlands 2 skin, but the Team Fortress two item is tied to your account and it will already be in your backpack.
GLaDOS - Personality Core
The Paranoia Core is only available as a Bounty after gaining all the others (Sam's Banjo, Claptrap's VGA Award, Brock's ORB, Ash's Necronomicon ex Mortis).

The Paranoia Core is a reference to an early development core for Portal 2, as the basis for Wheatley. The Paranoia Core locks himself into an "impenetrable" room with several turrets facing the only door and is afraid of anyone coming into get him. The player could portal in behind him, pick him up and carry him around for several challenges, and drop him down stairs. A lot of stairs. Because it's fun. It shouldn't be confused with the Paranoia Core from the web series The Underground, as it has a completely different optic.

When you've successfully won this item from GLaDOS you'll unlock the following items and achievement;

Borderlands 2 - Are You Still There - Turret Skin for Zer0**
Team Fortress 2 - The Scout's Long Fall Boots

Personality Goes a Long Way
Achievement

**Note: You'll need to download the Borderlands 2 skin, but the Team Fortress two item is tied to your account and it will already be in your backpack.
-------------Guide's and Help-------------
Character Tells
Gotta work all these out, so these will be coming soon with pictures, but in the meantime, some brief tells.

Please note, these are merely guidelines and will never give you 100% accuracy in results, as poker is a game of bluffing, but hopefully some of these tips can help you decide your strategy.

Left to right with the table;

==============================================================================
Brock Samson - The Venture Bros.

Good Hand
  • Brock will scratch behind his head
Bad Hand
  • Crazy face with a close up

==============================================================================
Claptrap (CL4P-TP) - Borderlands

Good Hand
  • Claptrap will adjust his optic (reach up and adjust his eye
Bad Hand
  • Claptrap's middle flap (eyebrow if you will), will pop up if he gets dealt a bad hand.
  • He's slump forward toward the table.
  • His antenna has been known to droop with a bad set of cards from the dealer. Now's the time to bet!

==============================================================================
Ash(ley) Williams - Army of Darkness

Good Hand
  • Picking and cleaning his teeth means he's pretty confident in his cards.
  • Grinning smuggly at you and the other players usually means he likes his cards.
  • Stroking his chin means he's about to up his bet, because he's sure of his hand.

Bad Hand (His right one....because it's evil.....it's a pun.....get it?........it's punny....
  • His right hand doing ANYTHING usually means it's a bad deal for him, no matter what bluff he makes.
  • Ash will look around nervously with a bad hand.

==============================================================================
Sam - Sam & Max

Good Hand
  • If Sam adjust his Tie, he's feeling pretty confident.
  • When Sam's hat jumps in surprise off his head, he's got a really good hand.
Bad Hand
  • Sam will place his head on the tabled sadly if he thinks he will lose the hand.
  • If Sam's got a big smile while betting, he's probably bluffing.
Bounty Challenges Guide
IMPORTANT NOTE
There are NO known ways to reset the bounty challenges, Unfortunately, you've got to keep the ones you've gotten. Unless you delete your save and restart, but there's no guarantee you won't get crappy bounties the next time either.

This list will be ongoing until I have all the Bounties and strategies listed (I'm attempting to grab the ones spinning during the selection also, but I feel some of these are fakes);

Come in Second or Better in a Tournament
Pretty simple, just finish the tournament in First or Second place.

Come in Second or Better in Consecutive Tournaments
You need to come in 2nd or 1st place in two games in a row. It might take a while if you're having a run of bad luck, eventually it'll turn around. Just keep calm :).

Win a Tournament
Come in First in a Tournament, should be easily achievable with practice.

Win a tournament without going below 10K chips
This requires your hand to never go below 10k chips at the start of a turn. You can go All In, it just requires that your amount at the start of everything turn is at least 10k.

Win a tournament with a hand win percentage greater than 25%
This requires you to win 1/4 of all hands in your current tournament. This doesn't mean the percentage from the Stats screen, you can view this percentage during the Blind increase. If you're on your way to winning the tournament, there's no way you will have less than 25%.

Deploy a Full Table Set
Use a full SET of items from the UNLOCKS screen (Chips, Cards and Felt), use all three from one set and you'll get this easy.

Go All in and Win
Go All in and win the hand.

Go to a Showdown with 3 of a Kind or Better
Description says it all, just go into a showdown with a 3 of a kind or better, doesn't matter if you win.

Take 3 Pots in a Row
Win 3 pots in a row, just keep the bids low until the river and bet accordingly. Wasn't too hard to get.

Deploy a Table unlockable from the Army of Darkness Set
This requires you to have unlocked the Chips, Cards and Felt for Army of Darkness and use them in a game. When YOU make someone go broke, the animation will trigger and you'll get this.

Deploy a Table unlockable from the Portal set
This requires you to have unlocked the Chips, Cards and Felt for Portal and use them in a game. When YOU make someone go broke, the animation will trigger and you'll get this.

Steal a Hand from the Blinds
The blinds are before any of the dealers cards are played, when all the players are blind. So this challenge requires you to get all the opponents to fold before the first 3 cards are shown. Best bet? Go all in on your first turn and hope Ash isn't an idiot.

Steal a Hand from the Flop
The Flop is when the dealer plays the first 3 cards, if you have a good hand, go all in, and if your opponents all Fold, you'll get it.

Steal a Hand from the Turn - The Turn is when the dealer plays the 4th card. Best bet? Get a hand with Jacks or better (preferably two face cards or Aces), get them to the Turn and go all in. It requires the other places to FOLD on this turn.

Steal a Hand from the River
The RIver is the FINAL 5th card that the dealer plays. This is the more difficult version of the Bounty above. This requires you to get your opponents to the River, and then fold. Just have a good set of cards, but don't bet high until the 5th card is played, then go all in and hopefully they'll fold.

Win a Pot when 2 or More Opponents are All In
Have two of your opponents go all in, and HOPEFULLY, you can win. This is a bit trickier to pull off, just be patient, don't go All In before the flop.

DOUBLE UP - Need full title
You have to double the amount of chips you have by winning a single pot. For example at the start of a tournament you have $10,000, you need to have the pot have at least $20,000 in it and win.

Win a Showdown with a Flush or Better
Self explanatory, win a Showdown with a flush of better, definitely easier if you KNOW you're going to have a flush, then go all in.

Win a Showdown with a Better Kicker
A kicker is when you and an opponent have the same cards (eg, dealer plays 2 Kings, 2 Queens and a 4), the deciding winner is based on who has a higher card, so if I have a 9 and they have a 7, I'll win the hand with the 9 kicker. Tricky to try and plan for, but you'll get it with patience.

Win a Showdown with only a High Card
The absolute worst Bounty and bane of my existence. This requires you with win with a High card, which means you can't have any good hands, no pairs, no anything. Best hope? Have a King and an Ace and hope for the best. Unfortunately this is the most difficult one to win and it's usually the final Bounty for people to complete.

Edit: FINALLY got this, after 6 hours just working on this one bounty, with the worst hand and the most impossible luck, screenshot below, can't really give any better advice than, prepare to lose a lot and fold unless you have cards higher than a Jack;

Joke Bounties? I've seen these during the randomizer, but they seem like jokes.

Go To A Showdown with a Bad Cold - JOKE
Win a Tournament Without Going Below the Belt - JOKE
Quadruple Up - JOKE?
Deploy Withering Sarcasm - JOKE
Buy GLaDOS a drink - ???
Strategies, Tips & Tricks
Just a couple of things to keep in mind;

Hold 'Em Vs Omaha -
Which one should you play with? Well, the main thing to understand is the difference.
  • Hold 'Em - The dealer gives you TWO cards, and you've got to use them and the 5 cards dealt by the dealer to make the best hand

  • Omaha - The dealer gives you FOUR cards, but requires you to use ONLY TWO from your hand (pit) and THREE from the Dealer set.
  • So personally, I use Omaha, as it gives you more opportunity to get a Flush, Full House or even just Pairs by doubling the amount of cards you get. To each their own though!

EXTRAS
  • Drinks - During your turn, please the LEFT arrow in the bottom of the nav to see extra options, including buying Drinks for your opponents. Drinks are 5 Tokens and lower their inhibitions and makes it easier to see their tells.

  • Bounties - Forgot what your Bounties are? During your turn press the RIGHT arrow in the bottom of the nav to see your current Bounties and their status (complete or incomplete).

BOUNTY RELATED

Orb 'n' Legends - Win Brock's bounty item.

Trophy Wife - Win Claptrap's bounty item.

Book 'Em - Win Ash's bounty item.

Banjo Hero - Win Sam's bounty item.

Personality Goes a Long Way - Win GLaDOS's bounty item.
GLaDOS' bounty item will ONLY be available after getting all the others.

Unlock all the Things - You've unlocked every poker item in the game.
You must purchase every set of Chips, Decks and Felts available, costing 1755 Tokens total.

We Are the 1% - You've won a million dollars.
This achievement requires you to have a balance of $1,000,000, viewable in your Stats page. This is a big pain to actually achieve and really means you have to win 13 tournaments in a row without losing, as your balance only increases with your opponent's money (4x$20 000=80 000) Thanks Trakais .

Best option is, to Alt-F4(PC) or Option-Command-Esc (Mac) and quit the game if you know you just got screwed in a hand, and you'll restart at that last hand when you relaunch. Otherwise, patience.
Aperture Unlockables, Quotes and the final Bounty
I recorded and cut up the final tournament with GLaDOS and thought some people might just want to see the Portal stuff.

"How do I unlock a Borderlands 2 item?"
As it seems a lot of people are having issues with getting the items, here's the official how to from Gearbox;

To unlock a Borderlands 2 item in Poker Night 2, you will need to win a tournament where a rare bounty item is offered. Here are the steps to do this:

1. Complete your first tournament in Poker Night 2 (this will unlock bounty challenges)
2. Start a new tournament
3. 3 bounty challenges will be chosen at random (these can be seen by pressing RT anytime during the tournament)
4. Complete all 3 of these bounty challenges and complete the current tournament
5. At the start of the NEXT tournament, a random bounty item will be offered as a prize if you WIN the tournament

Once a bounty item is won, this item can be viewed from the Bounty menu (from the Main menu, select Stats, then Bounties). Use 'A' to select the unlocked bounty item and then select 'X' to download that item.

Please note: When you select X to download, you will be automatically returned to the Bounties screen. To make sure your item was downloaded properly, exit Poker Night 2 and start Borderlands 2. At the Main Menu, select 'Extras' and 'Shift Code'. You should have a new Shift message informing you that the unlocked item was added to your inventory. If you DO NOT have a Shift account, you will need to create one on the same Xbox profile you used to unlock the item in Poker Night 2, and then download the item again from the Bounties menu!

Once the item has been downloaded, start Borderlands 2 and load the character that corresponds to the unlocked item, and then equip the item to your character at any Quick Change station in the game.

It might be worth mentioning in the guide that the bounty "Win a Pot when 2 or More Opponents are All In" considers you tying to be you winning.

I have found a way to reset the bounties, on the game that you get your bounties and the game rolls 3 random ones, you quit the game and restart. It's that simple. When you load into a new game, the game will roll you three new bounties.
