Basic Farm
x8+x4+x4
Cut Grass can be harvested from Grass Tufts found naturally in the world | Manure is an important resource for Farming. It is generated renewably by several creatures in the world, most notably Beefalo which make lots of it in herds for easy collection, but also including Koalefants, Pigs(when fed), and Splumonkeys. | Logs are dropped from Evergreens, Mushtrees, Cave Banana Trees and Birchnut trees after cutting the trees with an Axe. The larger the Tree, the more logs are dropped
Forest, Grassland; Caves; Village | Savanna, Grassland | Forest
Seeds planted in a Farm will grow a fruit or vegetable at random. Specific crops can be grown by using Crop Seeds. Farms deplete after a number of harvests, and they need to be fertilized to grow more crops. Speed at which the crops grow depends on the world temperature, availability of light, and Rain. Growing crops can be fertilized to speed up their growth. Crops only grow in the presence of light, unless they are near a light source. The Basic Farm yields 20 harvests before requiring fertilization. Crops take about 40 daylight hours to finish growing. To avoid waiting, 4 Manure, 16 Rot/Rotten Eggs, or 3 Guano can be used to fully grow a crop planted in the Basic Farm.

Hay Wall
x4+x2
Cut Grass can be harvested from Grass Tufts found naturally in the world | Twigs can be collected from Saplings, Spiky Bushes, Cave Banana Trees, and Spiky Trees
The Hay Wall is the weakest of the four Walls, a craftable Item and a deployable Structure that prevents the player's and Mobs' movement. Once built, it can be repaired or upgraded to a second tier with another piece of Hay Wall or enough Cut Grass. It can be attacked and destroyed, leaving a destroyed Hay Wall. Hammering the wall will yield two Cut Grass from the second tier and one Cut Grass from other tiers. It has a maximum of 100 health and 50 health when first built before upgrades. The Hay Wall is highly flammable and one should exercise caution when fighting Red Hounds near it, or during a Reign Of Giants Summer. If burned they will drop one Ash.
20 / 4
ST1
Wood Wall
x2+x1
SA | Rope is a Refined Item crafted with 3 Cut Grass. Cut Grass can be harvested from Grass Tufts found naturally in the world.
The Wood Wall is the third strongest of the four Walls, a craftable Item, and Structure that prevents the player's and Mobs' movement. Once built, it can be repaired or upgraded to a second tier with another piece of Wood Wall or enough Twigs, Logs, or Boards. It can be attacked and destroyed, leaving a destroyed Wood Wall. It is also highly flammable, so measures should be taken when fighting Red Hounds, or during a Reign Of Giants Summer. Using a Hammer on the wall will yield one Log from tier one and two Logs from tier three. It has a maximum of 200 health and begins with 100 health when first built before being upgraded. In the Shipwrecked DLC, Strong Winds can erode and destroy Wood Walls.
20 / 8
ST1
Stone Wall
x2
Cut Stone is a Refined Item crafted with 3 Rocks. A Science Machine is required to unlock the recipe.
The Stone Wall is the second strongest of the four walls, second only to the Thulecite Wall. It is crafted as an Item and deployed as a Structure that prevents movement by both creatures and characters. A Stone Wall is first built in its second tier but can be repaired (upgraded) into a third or fourth tier by adding another piece of Stone Wall or enough Rocks or Cut Stone. It can be attacked to reduce it to first tier and then destroyed, leaving a destroyed Stone Wall. Hammering the wall will yield two Rocks from fourth tier and one Rock from other tiers. It has 200 health when first built and a maximum of 400 health. In repairs, one rock will add considerably less health to the wall than one stone wall will. Since it ultimately takes six rocks to make six stone walls, using rocks directly to repair a wall is very inefficient. Likewise using cut stone is a loss versus using another piece of stone wall. In addition, the cost to fully repair a completely destroyed wall is much higher than just breaking the wall down with a hammer, and starting fresh. Once they are broken down completely it can take eight or nine pieces of wall to completely build back up to a top level wall, due to the way the repair function works.

Carrots can also be Farmed by planting Seeds for a 31.6% chance of growing or using Carrot Seeds and underground they can also be obtained by deconstructing Rabbit Hutches with a Hammer or Deconstruction Staff, yielding five Carrots per Rabbit Hutch (Ten with the staff). Feeding a Carrot to a Bird in a Birdcage will produce 1–2 Carrot Seeds, as well as a 50% for 1 regular Seed. | A Bunny Puff can be obtained by killing a Bunnyman or by deconstructing a Rabbit Hutch underground with a Hammer or Deconstruction Staff. Bunny Puffs are not dropped by Rabbits.
Rabbit Hutches are naturally spawning Structures and craftable structures. They will spawn a lone Bunnyman, which will respawn from the hutch after 1 day if killed. Rabbit Hutches only spawn naturally in Caves. It is possible for the houses to spawn individually, in small randomly spaced groups, or in a large circle around a patch of grass and a Pitchfork. Although they look like carrots, several characters comment that they are not, though it takes carrots to craft them.

Birdcage
x2+x6+x2
Papyrus, also known as Paper, is a refined item crafted with 4 Cut Reeds. A Science Machine is required to unlock the recipe. | Gold Nuggets can be found by mining Boulders (with gold veins on their side) or Stalagmites (found only in Caves). They can be found lying on the ground in Graveyards or Rockyland biomes, and fall from the ceiling in Caves during Earthquakes. | Seeds are a Food item commonly left on the ground in Summer by Birds.
A Birdcage can only house one bird; however, it can be easily swapped with another at any time. As of yet, there is no functional difference between the three types of birds, other than the aesthetic appeal. Birds go to sleep at night and wake up in the morning or when offered an item. If offered an item, once the bird is done reacting to it (eating or refusing), it will go back to sleep.

Feeding a bird in a Birdcage a raw Fruit or Vegetable (except Berries, Mushrooms, Lichen, Cave Banana, Banana, Seaweed, and Mandrake) will make it drop 1–2 Crop Seeds of the same type, as well as having a 50% chance to drop an additional regular Seed. These specialized seeds can be planted on a Farm plot, enabling selective crops. The player can also feed the bird regular Seeds to get fresh Seeds in return.

If fed any kind of Meats (excluding uncooked Monster Meat and raw Eggs) or meat-based food in Any state of spoilage, the bird will produce a fresh Egg. Eggs can be eaten raw or cooked, as well as used in Crock Pot recipes such as Bacon and Eggs and Pierogi. Eggs can also be offered to the Pig King in exchange for Gold Nuggets.

Rocky Turf is one of the Turf items, acquired by digging Rockyland tiles with a Pitchfork. | SA
Cobblestone is a craftable Turf item. It requires 1 Rocky Turf and 1 Board to craft and an Alchemy Engine to prototype. Like other Turfs, it can be placed on any bare ground tile or used as fuel.

Cobblestones allow players to lay down their own Roads. Similar to natural Roads, they will speed up the player and most Mobs by 30%. Unlike natural Roads, Cobblestones can be moved using the Pitchfork. Small patches of it can be found in Mosaic biomes.

Plants like Berry Bushes, Grass Tufts, Saplings, Spiky Bushes, Pine Cones, and Birchnuts can't be planted on these Turfs, unless they were planted before these turfs were placed. It will also stop the Lureplants' Eyeplants from spawning.

A Purple Gem is a refined item used to craft several Magic items. It requires a Prestihatitator to prototype, and costs 1 Red Gem and 1 Blue Gem to craft.

Purple Gems can be obtained by mining Ancient Statues, destroying Broken Clockworks, opening Ornate Chests, or as a drop from both variants of the Clockwork Bishop. Maxwell starts out with a Purple Gem in his inventory.

Purple Gems are used to craft the Shadow Manipulator, Bat Bat, Telelocator Staff, and Nightmare Amulet. Three Purple Gems must be installed in a Telelocator Focus before it will function, and they will be consumed when the Telelocator Focus is used.

In the Reign of Giants DLC, the Purple Gem has a 0.01% chance to be dropped by Tumbleweeds.

Touch Stone - when resurrected

Nightmare Fuel is used to craft Magic items. It is also used to fuel Night Lights and Maxwell's Codex Umbra (to summon Shadow Puppets). Chester can transform into Shadow Chester by placing Nightmare Fuel in each of his nine inventory slots on a Full Moon.

In the Reign of Giants DLC, Nightmare Fuel can be obtained by hammering Pig Heads and Merm Heads during a Full Moon.

In the Shipwrecked DLC, Nightmare Fuel can also be acquired by gambling at the Slot Machine, by hammering Wildbore Heads during a Full Moon, or by killing Crabbit Beardlings while insane.

Petals are a Vegetable Food Item obtained by picking Flowers, which are commonly found in Grassland biomes.
The Garland is a wearable Dress item for the head slot. It requires 12 Petals to craft. It is easy to make and can help maintain Sanity early on, as it is available to craft from the beginning of the game.

It restores 1.33 Sanity/min while worn.

The Garland spoils over time, like Food, spoiling 25% slower in Winter. When it is completely spoiled, it disappears without leaving any Rot. Its Sanity restoration stays constant over time despite the spoilage level of the Garland, meaning it does not need to be replaced until completely worn out. Durability: 6 days.

Durability: unlimited. The Bush Hat is a wearable Dress item. It requires 1 Straw Hat, 1 Rope, and 1 Berry Bush to craft and an Alchemy Engine to prototype.

To hide in the hat, the player has to click the RMB (Right Mouse Button) over the Bush Hat while it's in the hat slot on the inventory toolbar. Right-clicking the hat again does not undisguise but instead takes the hat off the hat slot. Moving around will immediately remove the disguise.

When hiding, enemies will not notice the player unless the enemy was already targeting the player. Charlie is not fooled by the disguise. Also, Gobblers can distinguish between Berry Bushes and the Bush Hat; hence, they will not approach the player when the player is hiding with the Bush Hat.

The Bush Hat is an effective method for avoiding incoming Hound attacks, as the Hounds will simply pass by a player hidden in the hat. The player will unhide whenever exclaiming "Did you hear that?" but if the player quickly hides again before the Hounds arrive, the Hounds won't notice.

Camping out in spider-infested territories is dangerous (unless playing as Webber), especially during long winter nights. Utilizing the Bush Hat will spare the wearer from dealing with spiders during the night.

The bush hat is also useful in Caves/Ruins situations to hide during aggressive stages of the Nightmare Cycle. Note that a light source can still be equipped in the hand slot.

If the player doesn't have a ranged weapon or can't corner a Koalefant they want to kill, they can hide in a Bush Hat when the closest distance is reached. Then the Koalefant may wander over, giving the player a chance to hit it before it can flee.

Using the Bush Hat with Willow's Lighter works well if one doesn't have time to set up a camp or it's too dangerous, as her Lighter will stay active to protect her from Charlie indefinitely (excludes Don't Starve Together), and the Bush Hat will prevent her from being spotted by hostile mobs, provided she hasn't already been seen.
