By TheOldenDays
This is a simple guide on how to see more clearly during that pesky time when the sun goes down.

NVIDIA ONLY
First off I want it to be known that this practice only works with NVIDIA GPUs, so sorry to any AMD person that thought this would assist them.
Getting Started
First off you want to open up Nvidia Geforce Expirence, after that go to the top right of the window and click on settings. Once you do that look for a little box that says "Enable experimental features" and click the box to enable them. After you do that you need to download a new driver so go ahead and do that and you should be ready to rock and roll.
Setting up Profiles
Once you have completed all the steps above join a Rust server and press ALT and F3 when you have loaded in. You will be greated with a menu as shown that is very interesting to mess around with and customize. To create a "Night Vision" profile click on one of the Three numbers listed, these numbers are profiles so that you can save individual color schemes and switch them at anytime. Once you click on a number, click on the adjustments button and scroll down untill you see contrast, when you find it click on it. Now click on contrast once you have it selected and turn gamma up to 100% and contrast to 47.5% (These are the numbers I recommend but you can use whatever values that suite you, keep in mind if you turn contrast up high you will barely be able to see when inside your invintory.)
The Results
Using this method is a great way of seeing almost clearly in during night time WHEN THE MOON IS OUT! Keep in mind this will not light up caves, pitch black shadows, and full-dark nights. As seen here, before: After: Although the scene is still pitch black the sky becomes lighter allowing you to see players against the sky with more ease.

Before:
After:
Using this method allows you to easily spot players quicker in dark areas.

I think they made it like this more for gamma cheating reasons, not realism.

there is also a similar overlay on the AMD cards

anyway: the night in Rust is pure shit, irrealistic at all ... because trying to achieve realism they went too far

in real, any animal (also any primitive humans), if he lives outdoors at night, sooner or later he develops more perceptiveness in the light (even if very little), not like a cat, but nevertheless at a level higher than the pitch black

and there is always a bit of light in a planet with an atmosphere rich in oxygen, water vapor (etc.), all elements that refract light

developers should raise visibility slightly when there is a moon, and put the visibility there is now when there is a moon instead of pitch black (no moon)
