Lobster Fishing Props

Description
It's May. The spring lobster fishing season is well under way.

As props will be taking on an increased importance with the upcoming DLC, I thought I'd get a few scenic type props ready in case your walking tours take you through an area where lobster fishing occurs. I grew up around lobster fishers, so I've kind of wanted to do something like this for a while. You don't need any DLC or anything else for this, they're just standard props. Use with More Beautification, or add them to your own custom assets.

Maritimers or people from the northeastern coastal U.S. states will recognize most of this stuff.

In this prop pack you will find six props. One 36-foot lobster boat on stilts, not a floater unfortunately (I'm not going through the hassle of making a floating boat until it becomes a bit easier); two lovely bait shacks, a net and set of buoys, a traditional lobster trap, or lobster pot - as well as a pile of box-shaped lobster traps.

If you use Find it!, type 'Lobster' into the search bar for props and you'll see these.

The textures for each prop contain all the necessary maps for each effect.

N.B. A few of these props, namely the single trap have lots of tris and are heavier than I think props should be for this game. But honestly, I couldn't find a way to make them look like they should without the geometry. Finding a middle ground with the boat wasn't easy either. You've been warned. They won't cause you any problems - but they are more than they should be. I guess, just don't go nuts with the traps. You'll be fine.

The textures here range between 512 and 128 for main meshes and 128 and 32 for LoDs. The lobster trap, which is the worst of the bunch for its size has 338 tris on the main model. The boat has about 770 - curved surfaces. I did the best I could to optimize it.

Thanks again, please enjoy. And please let me know if you encounter problems with the upload.

Most houses stand empty, old nets hung to dry. Are blown away, lost and forgotten.

@davids_cave — I would have been around four or five when that book came out. Can't remember if I read it back then or not. But thank you for the kudos. It still means a lot to me. I don't do this very much any more, but maybe I'll try to do a few on my next week off of work.

I should add, with ModTools, when you have the prop selected in the menus, that's where you locate and dump it in ModTools. Dig around Tool Controller>Tool Controller, then m_editprefab. Any game mode should do. For the LoDs, Look for any line that includes _lod and a preview button.

@Picard1701 - I avoided making a floating prop on purpose. I've read about enough game breaking issues with floating boats and I wanted to avoid it.

But, if you want to give it a go, you can do whatever you like with the asset. That goes for everything I upload. Here [drive.google.com] are all the files used to create it. I think this was the version I uploaded. I made a few and struggled a bit to keep the tri count reasonable, boats being curved things and all.

The .blend file is included if you use Blender. For some reason, I don't have the LoDs saved. Probably because I created the LoD model quickly. You can use ModTools to locate it and dump it to your hard drive.

If you have any questions, let me know. I'm happy to help.

These props are wicked awesome! Thank you so much!
I do have one question: are you working on making the lobster boats floatable? I was gonna have a go at a hacking them using Lee Tower's Tutorial but, I can't click on the prop with ModTools and with out some way of getting my hands on the .fbx file I can't modify them to float.
