Tank - Defensive warrior class skills

Description
Dedicate a character to defense - Enables defensive play - Survive ambushes - Manipulate the battlefield by pushing and pulling enemies - Cheesing the game by separating your characters before a battle is LESS necessary.

Includes an upgraded Taunt/Provoke, 9 new skills, and a weapon and shield which supports this type of character.

Useful with other warrior skills, Geomancer, Necromancer. I suggest using a cleave 1H weapon and a Shield with reflect damage (Included with the skillbook traders).

Vendors -
1) Fort Joy - Nebora, the smith
2) Reaper's Coast - Ovis in Driftwood Square
3) Nameless Isle - Knight of Tir Cendelius and The Shadow Prince
4) Arx - The crafting trader in Arx Square, where there's a group of vendors near the entrance gate

Instructions -
If you're trying to use this with another mod that uses these traders, enable this mod with a higher priority, buy the skillbooks and weapon/shield, then keep this mod enabled but you can change the priority if required.

Skills require a combination of Warfare, Necromancer, and the elements associated with each of the Circle of Protection skills.

Skills -
  • Provoke - Vanilla Taunt is unreliable, enemies still ignore the provoker and go for the weakest character. The new Provoke actually works, by reducing the caster's HP to 1 and giving them Living on the Edge/Death resist for 2 turns, along with bless for a little resistance for tanking hits - so you have time to heal them back up. This ensures that the enemies target them. Reduced 100% chance of success to 80%. Area of effect doubled.
  • Defensive Aura - Provide yourself and allies in a 10' radius with 25% resistances of all types.
  • Divine Blessing - Provide yourself and allies in a 5' radius with the Blessed effect, and create a blessed water surface.
  • Mass Plague - A bolt that travels from enemy to enemy, setting diseased ignoring their armour, reducing their damage.
  • Universal Pull - Pull everyone in a 180 degree arc towards you.
  • Almighty Push - Push back everyone in a 30 degree arc.

Source skills -
  • Source Quake - A more concentrated version of Earthquake. Much smaller area of effect, limited to 5' radius. However, it does physical damage not Earth, so is more likely to break through armour to apply the knocked down effect. No oil is created.
  • Circle of Protection: Fire and Earth - Provide high (60%) resistance to Fire and Earth for one turn. Only one circle can be active at a time, and to ensure this, the aura which provides this buff is on a summon.
  • Circle of Protection: Air and Water - Provide high (60%) resistance to Air and Water for one turn. Only one circle can be active at a time, and to ensure this, the aura which provides this buff is on a summon.
  • Circle of Protection: Poison and Physical - Provide high (60%) resistance to Poison and Physical for one turn. Only one circle can be active at a time, and to ensure this, the aura which provides this buff is on a summon.

A cleave weapon and a 10% damage reflect shield is always available at the vendor which sells these books.

This mod is a WIP - it is tested and usable, once you get an idea about the skills, you can strategize how to put them to use. However it's not perfectly balanced yet. Icons and animations are reused from the game, so they look kind of generic. This doesn't get in the way of how the mod works though.

Feedback is appreciated, as are ratings!

Does this not work with the definitive edition?

Defintiely gonna try this one, Universal Pull, then taunt, have my party member cast vampiric hunger on me, next turn, thick of the fight, and use the ensuing damage to heal back up. Im sure this will also pair well with reactive armour and stacking fortify before hand.

Ill report back after I mess with it a bit

Sorry, it's just not something I feel motivated to do. I like spending my time changing and making stuff related to "game design", how the skills work, etc. What I might do is give the skills very uncommon icons from the game. Right now the "universal pull" icon is one you don't really see in the game, it's probably some NPC's skill.

I would love to use it, but I hate using any mods that don't have unique icons for their skills. What are the chances that we'll see all the skills added here include a unique icon for use?

Hey, I'm glad that you like it. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll give it some thought. Any feedback on the existing skills? Any combinations you're using with other skills?

oh thank you, i've waited so long for a mod that gives some love for tanking :)
would love to see some more cool skills.
some ideas:
#1 | 1 AP Chainpull with crippled and/or slowd (loved that one in TERA on Lancers)
#2 |some Battleshouts with various effects
(enemie = muted, disarmed, silenced, terrified)
(friends= adrenalin you pay 2 AP and your friend gets 2 AP next turn, final stand everyone gets massive +AP,+DMG,+CRIT,+HIT but also massive -CON,-Dodge,-Resist for 1 Turn)
#3 selfbuff to riposte/konter every melee attack

p.s. thanks for your time and effort, i know it takes a lot of time to get going and create good content.:praisesun:

Haha you know it, I couldn't help but make that reference. Just the names though, I got the idea for it while thinking of ways to make the enemies target the tank.
