FIRST PART : GAMEPLAY
Settings
You can modify settings of the game in the super survivors tab, you have to relaunch your save to have the settings take effects.
You really should check your settings before you open your save

Survivor Spawn Rate : Careful, too many survivors around you will make them lag, which will have them killed if they are attacked. Normal rate at first, then High rate after some time, seems stable.
There are 2 kinds of survivors in game : preset ones and random ones.
Preset ones will appear in special locations, their hostility isn't determined by the chances to be hostile : it's fixed.
Some of their perks are fixed too : example a doctor will have above 3 in first aid or else it couldn't be doctor, a hunter will have high aim, etc...

Random ones are... well 100% random.

Chance to spawn with Gun : set the initial number, each 48 hours add 1 to this number. The limit is always 100. Example : if you choose 0, but survive 4800 hours or 200 in game days, random survivors will have 100% probability to spawn with a gun.

Chance to spawn with Melee : Act the same as Gun.

Note : survivors can spawn with Gun + melee, melee or nothing.

Chance to be hostile : Same as Gun but ->

Max Chance to be hostile over time: the limit isn't always 100 like Gun and melee, you can set what you want.

Wife/Husband Spawn : Explicit, work only when you spawn the first time.

Survivor Friendliness : How hard it will be for you to succefully invite survivors to join your group. If survivors don't accept you can give them food or water, and retry.

Survivor Infinit Ammo : Usually enemies won't run out of ammoes before you kill them or they kill you, so it's more for your own survivors.

Survivors Auto Base Tasks : Survivors do automatic tasks at base, if your base is relatively safe you really should add it. It adds some life in your base.

Survivors Hunger & Thirst : Now survivors won't drink/eat dangerous things, so if you stock food not far from them they will take it for themselves.
For drinking if your base doesn't have a well, I guess that they will take bottle of water, but you have to tell them to clean their inventory to take back the empty bottles (to be verified). So a well is a big + for now.

Raiders Start Spawning after this many days : Raiders won't spawn before this many days

Raiders Event Guaranteed every this many day : They will be forced to spawn this many day

Chance for Random Raiders to Spawn : Increase the probability of random spawning.

Ready for Battle Mode : You start with a pistol, 4 ammo boxes and 10 aims and reloading. You start with an armor too if you have the armor mod from the same modder.
How to protect your survivors outside of your base
Ouch, the hard part. Their IA is pretty good, but in project zomboid humans can die so easily that a simple stupid move can be their death. So :

First thing : In general, you should put the following distance between 2 and 4. Higher they will attack things far from you. Closer they won't attack Z so they can be bitten easily, and you will have problems to give them orders. If your survivors use range it's best to let them move, because if they pass the limit they won't shoot and will *try* come back to you, sometimes this means their death.

It will be hard to go scavenge with your survivors without them dying. I mean... don't take your favorite survivors with you. This of course depends of your settings, but a lot of Z will make them crazy and they will run away all over the place with you screaming to them.
1 - You can take a few survivors with you (not too many, or the lag will kill them), if you give them all axes and there aren't too many Z, they will cut through them like a hot knife through butter.
With guns and a silencer mod, they are even more effective.
Or 2 - Avoid taking a survivor for scavenging, if your mean is to keep him live, that is. I personnaly bring new ones to my base each time I find a new one.

Note : The biggest danger are other hostile NPC, if they see one your NPC will go berseker and don't listen at you anymore, so to counter this the best way is to kill this NPC fast (because if you fall back he will heal and come back, to be hurt and flee again, so it will be the chaos in your group)
How to protect your survivors inside your base
That's already easier.
To begin with, I suppose that your base is in the wild, not close to a city (with cars it's much easier).
Put a big wall all around your base, in log walls, with only one entrance. You can put unused cars around the wall to prevent Z from destroying the wall.
Make sure there are very few Z if they work outside of your wall, or give them tasks in same location.
Note : Since the addition of the raiders, your base isn't as safe as before. Be sure to declare a large area, because raiders will always spawn at the very border of your base territory.
A good place for you and your survivors
A very good (if not the best) base is the survivor hill top camp. It has a well, and undestructible log walls (by Z), it's close to west point and muldraugh.
The only problem is that it's already occupied, so you have 2 options :
1 - Live with them. Sadly you can't give them orders, and they are 20, so they will smoke your supply stock. You can then use a car to stock all your food, and give the food manually to your own survivors. In either case you base will be easier to defend with them.
Note : The second method may be less interesting now since most hilltop survivors can find food by foraging and you could use those extra NPC to defend against raiders.
2 - The psychopath/exploit way.
  1. Firstly, bring a Z so the guards begin to shoot and attract Z. Then search the foodguard, if he keeps the food stock, hit him with a melee weapon, he will then run away.
Steal the food, if someone else come in the room wait that he goes away. If the foodguard come back hit him again. Do that until you have all the food. This should make them starve slowly. Put all the food in your car, or far from the camp (wait that the guards kill all the Z in the area eh). From now you have to live in the camp for those changes to take effect.
  2. Secondly, with all those Z rotting here, the guards will fastly die (yeee free shotguns).
  3. Thridly, only the citizens, the governor and the food guard remains. With your new shotguns this shoulden be a problem right ? You may want to wait a bit that they begin to spread around the base, they will be easier to take down. Note : I forgot the doctor, you may want to let him live, he can heal you while you sleep and heal your survivors too...
  4. Finally you have a perfect base for you and your lucky survivors ... but at what cost ?

All survivors options
How to set a base (and other areas)
In game most option are explained if you right click on a party member -> Give order -> Hover the options.
So i'll just add a few things :
When you selected a new area (example for chopping wood) and you already have a survivor who's cutting wood, he'll keep chopping in the old area. To "update" him, just tell him to chop wood again, he'll go in the new area.

Hotkeys
Now you can use custom hotkeys to command your survivors (which make things much faster).
Choose your orders : Escape -> Options -> Super Survivors Tab -> Hotkeys 1-4 Action.
Choose your Hotkeys : Key Bindings -> NPC Interaction Tab -> Hotkeys 1-4 Action.

How to fight against survivors
Basically here is how it works, you always need to hurt him, after that you basically won. The AI has consistent behavior : If he is hurt, he will always back up. So even if you're hurt, you really should hurt him a bit before back up, except if you're really fast (some survivors are fast, often preset hostile ones).
But if you hurt him once you just have to keep following him while hitting him when you can, he won't be able to heal himself and will bleed out.

Survivors needs to be closer than you to hit/shoot so with the right timing you can always hurt him before he hurts you. Of course the best is to have a pistol (it has more range) and a few points in aiming, I must confess that with a shotgun this method is too dangerous.

Of course Z are you're friends, if you want to attack several NPC at once a loud shot can really help you, they can even make the job for you, you can still loot them later.

Important Note : Careful to shotguns If you never played PVP, you have to be really careful of shotguns : they can remove 75% of your health in one hit, so this + the bleeding effect you are almost sure to die. With this mod I think that this is the most dangerous things, a fast NPC with a shotgun, and an unprepared player.

Important Note 2 : If you take a bullet If you're shot don't remove the bullet if you are still in danger, because it will make you bleed even more (like in real life). So bandage it as soon you can, then when safe remove the bullet, desinfect, stich and bandage (if you survived free first aid points yeee).

Important Note 3 : Why am I losing life ? If you was already bandaged when you got shot, you may have a lodge bullet under a bandage. Problem, you can't see it. So in this situation it's better to check all your wounds.

Important Note 4 : If you hit <40% health When below 40% your health will drop even if you don't bleed and all your wounds are bandaged. Some players think it's the end but this isn't the case ! You have to eat a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of food, and while you have one of the "green fork and knife" debuff, your health will goes up very, very slowly. Remember to take pain killers if you need to change a bandage, your health will drop faster than usual. Having a NPC doctor do it for you is even better. So if you are a bit far in the game, you should always have enough food in your car to keep you alive until you reach your base.

Important Note 5 : Friendly Fire
When in PVP on:
Survivors from your party can't hurt you and you can't hurt them with melee and guns (you will still gain xp by trying to hurt them though), they won't attack you back. You can still hurt them with fire and explosives.
Friendly NPC not in your party will hurt you and you can hurt them, they will attack you back.
Hostiles can hurt anyone other than their group, if they have one and the opposite too.
When in PVP off:
You can't hurt any NPC by other means than fire and explosives. Hostile NPC will toggle PVP on.
Leveling skills important for this mod
  1. An easy way to raise first aid is by cutting yourself on a window, then when a glass is lodged, don't remove it : bandage it. When it's dirty, change it, you will get xp. You will lose health while doing this, unless you eat, then it will slowly goes up. If you don't have much food several simple stichs should raise you to level 2.
  2. To level aiming gather a lot of zombies together and shotgun them, and raise it to at least 3 to be able to use the pistol. Don't forget to take beta blockers, it's important even with the shotgun. Some people think it's useless with big hordes but you just have to take 4 in a row to be impossible to panic.
  3. To level sprint : you can run like a dumbass in a corner, you can block the keys with something around your desk : only problem, you have to let go and press again one key to still gain xp (~ 30 seconds).
  4. Finally to raise strength and fitness you can hit a tree with space and speed up the time (3 arrows maximum).

And for skills not related to this mod

  1. Cooking : In the first months, before the winter, there is a good probability that you feed yourself mostly with berries. If it's the case just remember to put them in a bowl before eating them, if you read the cooking books you will upgrade cooking just by doing that. Like that you will make great meals for winter.
  2. Carpentry : -This may be obvious but- Tell you survivors to cut and gather a lot of wood, and select a tiny area as wood storage (on the ground). They can stack infinite amount of logs on the ground, so once you have hundreds of logs, you can saw the logs and accelerate the time, you can make the first levels like that, even without books.
Base Raider proof and Zombie proof

Location: Hill top camp.
All walls are indestructibles, and zombies don't attack a car if you're not in it, so it's zombie proof.
Raiders can't go through the car either and they can't climb the rope, so it's raider proof.
You can go through the car by entering, switching places, and exiting.
Or you can use the stair-ropes way.
Your own survivors won't be able to pass too, you need to move the car for that.
I don't recommend it as it will probably make your game too easy boring, but you can still use that as an emergency exit, while letting an entrance open for survivors.
Example of a Base Defense Against Raiders
I made a video where I set raiders to attack once by day, this is one of the attacks.
So remember to heal your survivors after each attacks because they won't remove bullets by themselfs (remember to have suture needles before removing the bullet, not like me). Remove corpses close to them, especially if you selected "everyone's infected", because they have problems to react quick enough if a zombie stand up too close too them.
This base is large enough to have a rather long time to react if you are attacked, just declare an area large enough for them to spawn outside your wall, and raids will be easier.
When survivors are set on melee only, they won't search new ammoes for their gun if there is a hostile survivor, so it's best to tell them to use gun only until it's fixed.
Guards is better than stand ground, I tried both and they did the best by chasing them.
I think half shotguns half pistols is the best. If you have only suvivors with shotguns, they will be hurt first (they will need to get closer to shoot), so a good mix of pistols and shotguns is more multipurpose.
Well this is all I learnt from the 9 attacks, at first some survivors died (4 in total, because of lodged bullets and fresh turned zombies who stand up too close) but now with these tips I don't lose survivors anymore.
SECOND PART : BASIC "MOD MODIFICATIONS"
You should do a back up of your saves before each modifications.
Find a lost NPC
The problem is to get the ID of your lost NPC (I'll call it ID1), if you don't have it you can try several ways.
Press U in game, if he's still in your group double click on him and you have it. Get the ID of an other NPC, i'll call it ID2. If you have the ID1, (jump to ***).

If the lost NPC is not in U, get the group of ID2.
Quit the save and go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\108600\1331826879\mods\Super Survivors\theNameOfYourSave
Open SurvivorGrouphisGroup. If it begins by a 0 it's the right file.
This is all the ID of your NPC, even the dead ones Edit : dead ones may be removed from this file sooner or later, their ID wasn't supposed to stay written. So if you know in which order you recruited your NPC you can guess which one it is (the 0 doesn't count). For example, your wife/husband, is the second number.
If you have no idea we can still solve it with a "meh" method.

***
Open SurvivorMap
This is the coordinates of all NPC (alive ones). All lines are cooordinates ID.
From there 2 methods :

The lazy one
Copy the line with ID2, and past it at the end. At the past line, replace ID2 with ID1 (see pictures example in "Resurrect a NPC with back up"). Save the file, and you're done, your lost NPC will spawn on the first.
If you still don't have ID1 :
Do like above, but with all your NPC, they all all spawn at the same place and there will be your lost NPC too. If he's not he's dead so look at "Resurrect an NPC" if you want.

The more realist one (but less easy than I thought)
Go to https://map.projectzomboid.com/
Click on "Map Coordinates on (Level 0)", then hover until you find more or less where you think your NPC was.
(It's write in coords on the left)
All coordinates in SurvivorMap work like that : 4 or 5 numbers, a 6 or a 7, 4 or 5 numbers.
The "x" of the website will be a 6 or a 7.
Example : 1170879420 will be 11708x9420
So with this knowledge, test a bit and you should get the exact coordinates of your NPCs

Make a back up of a survivor
In game press U, double click on your survivor, you will have a lot of information on it. You need his ID.
Once you have it exit your save (maybe not needed but I prefer to do it just in case)

Go in :
C:\Users\you\Zomboid\Saves\yourGameType\theNameOfYourSave\
Find the file SurvivorHisID (It's low in the folder)

CopyPaste the file somewhere safe on your computer

Congratulation you made a back up of your survivor. If he died because of lag, a bug or whatever reason you consider unfair, you will be able to resurrect him.
Resurrect a NPC with a back up
Ok first find you need an other survivor in your group. When you have him, check is ID (you will need it). I'll call it ID2.
Then exit your save (needed) and copy past your back up it back in
C:\Users\you\Zomboid\Saves\yourGameType\theNameOfYourSave\
Then you have to add his location too because it has been removed so go in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\108600\1331826879\mods\Super Survivors\theNameOfYourSave\ (If your steam is installed at the default location of course)
Then open the survivor map, you will have to add in it his location (first numbers) then his ID in second. So hisLocation hisID.
Since I didn't understand exactly how it works because i'm a noob, that's where ID2 will be useful.
Copy paste the line with ID2 at the end of the file, then modificate ID2 in ID1.
Example : let's say ID1 is 17 and ID2 is 66.

Transfer NPCs between Saves (The Frankenstein Method)
1 In the menu in game, put the MaxHostileChance on 0, restart the game
2 In the save where you want to transfer your NPC, spawn an NPC with "/", invite him in your group, get his ID with U. Let's call this ID -> ID1.
3 Get the ID of the NPC you want to transfer with U again, let's call his ID -> ID2. Copy the survivor you want to transfer in C:\Users\you\Zomboid\Saves\yourGameMode\theSaveWhereHeIS. From here be sure your game is closed.
4 Delete SurvivorID1 in C:\Users\you\Zomboid\Saves\yourGameMode\theSaveWhereYouWantSurvivorID2Transfered. Past SurvivorID2, and rename it as SurvivorID1.
5 Enjoy your transfered NPC.

If you repeat this method you can have an army of wife, have one or several husband as a man, or a bit of both, have 15 hunters, it's as you want.

I'm playing with no spawns (I wanted to check the new locations) and then I spawned a soldier, removed all the items from he's inventory taking control, then proceeded to enable pvp. When I blow a hit it crashes right before landing. Replicated it twice in a row

my survivors have stopped looking for their own food and water and I have to constantly micromanage them to tell them to go find it. I find them all with 100% hunger and thirst levels and dying while not doing anything. even if there is a clean water source in the base zone or available food.
