Description
Amphibious Hover Vessel Olympia

[Not updated, probably won't be updating it further. The mechanic/glitch this relied on to travel full speed while submerged no longer works. Leaving it up incase anyone wants use it for inspiration or modifying. This will be nearly impossible to make CPU compatible, and is not intended for mass/volume.]

Built for ZeroG challenge build 02

Designed as a Hover Cruiser capable of both partially-submerged movement/combat as well as land-based combat and POI assault.

note: when first spawning it, the bridge shutters spawn closed, cycle the bridge access lever to open them

In order to meet the size requirements for the challenge, it can't move full speed while submerged more than about 25% - the depth it can submerge in water and still move full speed can be increased by raising the floating flare up a few blocks, about 4 blocks higher will give it enough height to submerge about 70% and retain full speed movement.
(most of the in-water pictures were taken with the floating flare at about 6 blocks higher than the bridge roof)

4x plasma, 4x rocket, 6x Minigun turrets, 4x Gatling guns
(left artillery turret off, one can be put on the roof if you want it, although they fire so slowly (if at all) that I'm not sure they're worth the cost and uglyness)

Seating for 10 max, each seat has a color-matched cargobox, fridge, and armor locker.

4 Seperate oxygen zones: Bridge, Aft lower deck/entrance, Central lower deck/passenger compartment, and Engine Room.
(note: when partially submerged lower deck fills with water - blocks don't stop water)

2 Constructors, with levers
2 Cargohold areas - one on Bridge, and one on lower deck, all have LCD labels
Passenger and Cockpit seats on bridge and lower deck, 2 seats in engine room.

Levers for:
Power saving Parking Mode (also has control panel switch) - Disables hover engines, thrusters, and RCS.
Bridge roof shutter (for launching player drone)
Spotlights
Gatling gun ports (also has CP switch) - opens shutters covering gatling guns
Bridge access ramp (1 on lower deck and one on bridge) - opens / closes bridge access and shutters.
Enabling or disabling each turret type

Motion sensor in each room for the lights and LCDs in that room. Entrance also on motion sensor.

It's fairly slow, at only 8m/s forward, 5m/s other directions. No buried thrusters.
Full hardened steel.

Level 15
See last screenshot for full material list.

Has a big pointy ram nose, that probably won't do much actual damage.

Even-numbered block width - turrets and other odd-numbered block width things can't be mounted on the centerline.

Name is from an actual US Cruiser from around 1900.

Cool looking ship. I definatly see the resemblance but it's still quite unique.

Someday I need to make the time to give this an overhaul for A9+. There's a fair amount of things about it I'd like to change - like having a longer better looking stern / rear end, less passenger seats, and changing to combat steel on the upper side.

Thanks a lot, it's posted if you'd like to see it. I had spawned this ship in the entire time I was building because I love the looks.

Sure that's fine

I'm not too particular about stuff being built similar to or even on top of things I've posted.

Hey, I have built an Alpha 9 warship heavily inspired by this build. I ripped-off a lot of your exterior design, although it is an entirely new build. I would like to post it and credit your design.

You rly want naval activity in this game , right?
Fine job doing it, m8 ! Had to find that sweet spot for the drone to spawn, but good call.

Great job! I love the naval type feel to it! Very much a fan of the thin hallways with all the devices put in there. Really leads to its function and lived in feeling. Thumbs up!
